Key points- Though the people working here were very very nice, the food was not good the coffee was not good this is not the place for a quick bite, I waited 45 minutes for a to go order price is high for quality
Well I just wanted to leave a quick, honest review. We just moved here to Great Falls, and after reading the reviews on Double Barel Coffee we were pretty excited to try it. Specifically, there were many great reviews about the food that guided us here. Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. I walked in on a Saturday and placed an order to go. Though the coffees were prepared quickly, the food took 45 minutes from the time I placed the order. I understand there were a few other patrons, but it was certainly not a "lunch rush" or an overwhelming amount of people. This is a rather long time to wait for two meals. My husband got a dirty chai latte and I got an iced chai, neither of them tasted good. I got the Biscuits and gravy for my meal, and my husband got the breakfast burrito, and in all sincerity the food just was not very good at all. I would compare the taste of the Biscuits and gravy to a complimentary breakfast at a hotel. The burrito was very bland, even with the chili and salsa that were provided, it was not good. The price for the two coffees and two meals was about $38, which was especially disappointing after not enjoying any part of our meal. I truly mean no disrespect to the employees or the owners, everyone working seemed to be very nice and working hard. I just wanted to leave this to give fair expectations for the next person searching for a...
Read moreThe inside is beautifully updated and the actual barista pulled shots just fine but that’s where it ends. The girl who took my drink order appeared flustered, anxious, and was visibly dripping sweat despite just standing there at the register. I placed my order for 4 shots in an iced cup. She was thoroughly confused and started tripping over her words, asking me what I wanted again, talking about drip coffees. I explained I only wanted 4 shots but the barista had to come explain. Whatever she ended up ringing up was $6.20, which is astronomical. My friend had a similar experience right after me and only ended up eating half her breakfast sandwich because it wasn’t that great. I really wanted to like this place as others have had good things to say but I just don’t see it and 4 shots of espresso should never be that much in Great Falls, MT.
Update: We went back a few weeks later and the ordering experience had improved - still room for improvement but they are working on it - seems like finding the right option on the tablet can be hard sometimes. I ordered food this time, the scrambler, and it was okay. A friend had the burrito and it looked awesome, but both orders took quite awhile and were on the higher end of $$$ for coffee shop food. I will say the length of time is likely due to it being really busy. The downstairs seating, which I hadn’t seen before, is a nice alternative option to the sometimes busy ground floor area. This won’t be a regular go-to for us, as its not ideal for studying or a student budget but it is nice to have more...
Read moreOrdered at 10:45am. 1/2 of our food (French Toast) showed up at 11:46am; showed up cold. 1/2 showed up 10 mins later. 45 mins into waiting, employee shows up to tell us they are all out of an item we had ordered, an item that is in stock (and on display) at the time we ordered. Customers would come in after us, order this same item, and because their order was smaller and quicker, they’d get that particular item. No communication about wait time when we ordered. Other customers showing up were being told 30-45 min wait; we had already been waiting nearly an hour by that point. At one point, kids were actually telling me they weren’t hungry any longer and that we should just leave. Tipped 15% up front for service that ended up being subpar. Employees were doing the best they could with what they had. Communication needed improvement. We were not the only dine-in patrons at the time being told the cafe had run out of an item or two on their orders or being apologized to for excessive wait time. When I commented to the employee on the item I had ordered being available at the time I ordered it, the response was, “Well, now we don’t have it.” One customer asked for a refund due to wait time; they had to offer a $20 gift card because someone authorized to refund the transaction was not present at the cafe at the time.
Food and service here were good the last visit (also was our first visit), and we don’t mind waiting for good food, but this...
