Maria's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Great Falls

Alright, I’m just gonna say it - this place drives me insane. There’s zero good Mexican restaurants in this town and I kept trying to eat at the only semi decent one and I finally throw in the towel. First off, who charges that much for chips and salsa, let alone charges at all? Chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants should be complimentary (and the salsa isn’t even good). Secondly, do they add any spices to their meat or just boil it in water and call it a day? Seriously- simmering & slow cooking your meats in delicious Mexican spices & chilies can go a long way- but not this place. I wouldn’t feed their meats to my dog. Thirdly, why order a hard shell taco that you jam with your watery tasteless meat? It falls apart on first bite as the hard shell has become soggy. And that hard shell looks to have been bought at Taco Bell. Lastly, their up charge on add-on items is ridiculous. A side of beans is almost $5?! A side of sour cream & guacamole that has no taste is almost $6?! I’ve kept trying to make my way through their menu attempting to find a decent item and after walking out the door paying $60+ (that’s plus tip) for your tasteless food, I officially give up. There’s not one thing on the menu that I recommend nor would return for. The food is tasteless and I can make it at home for a lot cheaper AND it will actually have taste enhancements! I would say to step up their game but quite frankly I never plan to return so I don’t really care. To anyone planning on going- just boil some chicken, stuff it into a tortilla and there - you just made Maria’s for a fraction...

Well let’s just say that I have been going here for a long time and it’s truly one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in great falls, however… tonight we received some of the worst service we have ever experienced. I ordered a combo plate and asked for a chicken taco, something I order every single time I go there to eat. The waitress brings out our food and the taco that came with my combo was ground beef, I flagged down the waitress and asked if I could possibly get the chicken taco that I ordered, she was nice the first time. She brought back my second taco, this time being shredded beef. I really just wanted my chicken taco especially because you pay extra for chicken. I flagged her down again and this time she came to my table and I explained again what was wrong this time she took the shredded beef taco and responded, “Well this is hilarious” then managed to get to the kitchen and throw the taco AND the plate in the garbage. When my chicken taco came out she had another waitress bring it to me. After this she never once checked on us again, no water refills, no boxes. She dropped off our check and walked away. I continued to have a conversation with my family for about 20 minutes and another waitress came to our table and asked if we were ready to pay yet. I handed her my card signed my receipt and left. Also after looking at my receipt when I left it specifically shows I ordered a chicken taco with my combo meal.

Just left this establishment. Susy was our waitress and first off let me say she has zero personality and needs to work on her serving skills. Her service was garbage from the moment we sat down. She came up and asked what we wanted to drink but left before my husband ordered his. When I ordered my drink I ordered a Corona Rita because the bartender told our friends we met there he wouldn't make it. Of course I order it and they bring it to the table.. but wouldn't for my friend who ordered the SAME thing. Finally when she delivers it asked why they wouldn't do it for him but they would for me? She replied "he's new here" referring to the bartender. Ordered our food, ALL of it was so dry we could barely get it down without drowning it in salsa. Finally we get the ticket and it's insane... lol I see she added a %20 gratuity. Adding gratuity so you have guaranteed tips I see. I talked directly to the manager - lucky me was the same crapola server we had, and she tried justifying it and I told her that I'm NOT paying all of that and that I would have left 0 tip because her attitude was garbage so I'm not paying a gratuity either. I paid. She said "Have the day you deserve" on my way out. So ma'am - I will have the day I deserve always because I give give give give to others but when service is bad I won't hesitate speaking for myself. Thankfully we moved so we won't be returning to this place. So sad to see what's...
