High Brau Taphouse — Restaurant in Greeley

I have never been to a "Dive taphouse," many dive bars but this is the first "dive taphouse." The beer selection is great. But wow the environment is classic dive. There is a funky smell in the place. They have a "beer garden." Which is really a back alley with a patio set from your backyard and a few adirondack chairs. Bathrooms are dirty. Even the pictures on the wall have old frames all warped. Honestly, this is a dive bar. Which is great, except dive bars typically don't sell $6-7 beers. You are better off going to one of the actual breweries in the area. The best part about this place is the tap list and that they are open late. So if you want to enjoy a great beer at that person's place who has all the cars parked on their lawn this is the place to go. Super friendly people, great beer, don't expect it to be clean and neat. It's like buying a new Lexus at one of those "we finance everyone" used car lots. And paying full...

We visited High Brau for the first time last night, having been persuaded by the presence of Mile High Lobster Shack food truck and trivia. We drove 40 minutes from Berthoud...so happy we did. The vibe was a little mellow at first, but the place slowly filled up with everyone enjoying the beer, lobster rolls and game of trivia. The bartender, Rob, was super-knowledgeable of everything that they had on tap, and I really appreciated the wide selection. I settled on the Sweet Child of Mine IPA which was great. Only later did I learn they also had some other local libations, and I enjoyed a toasty shot of tequila from State 38. The place was clean, welcoming and made for a great evening....

Of the many great aspects that I can share about High Brau, in my short experience here in Colorado (so far), I'll be short, sweet, and to the point.

High Brau is the at the top of my list of favorite Taprooms that I have visited in all of my travels. Not only does it have that home town feel to the environment, but so do the owners/staff. Oh, and they definitely know their beer! The patronage are kind and down to earth as well!

If you find yourself in Greeley, you should definitely pay this establishment some love - it was built by, and is run by the best around! At least...
