The food was good, however with this being our first time here (mine, at least), we had a very bad encounter with the waiter, Josh. As soon as we sat down, he quickly asked us what we would like to drink. Mind you, this is around 9 am. My very first time here. So I’m not sure if they serve only certain foods/drinks on the menu at certain times for breakfast or lunch. I asked Josh if they served mocktails this morning. He replied, “we serve everything on the menu.” Alright then, that answers my question that they DO serve everything the minute they open. A polite “yes” would’ve been just fine. No need to make a smart remark. Next, as we’re all rushly placing our drink orders (because our waiter Josh asked us), he then asked, “do you guys need more time?” Sir, you were the one who asked us. You made us feel very uncomfortable. Now, we’re placing our order for our food. Again, being a first timer here, not sure how the menu works, I ordered the traditional breakfast. You had to pick your meat and bread of choice. Not sure where those options were in the menu. And we wanted a side of gumbo. As soon as someone at my table ordered her entree (which was also the traditional breakfast) and the gumbo, he interrupted her by saying that “we have a lot we have to go through” as in, you need to pick your meat of choice and bread of choice before you can order your gumbo. Listen…If you hate your job, don’t work there. Simply find a new one. Don’t ruin your customer’s experience. Food can be delicious and all, but service is what keeps bringing people back. Word of mouth is important, so just be careful on how you treat customers. Hate that our experience here was not what we had anticipated. Will not be returning and will be sure to let our friends and families know that we don’t recommend coming here due to...
Read moreY'all. I eat out a lot. I mean, a LOT a lot. And this place is one of my favorites. I don't think I've eaten breakfast or brunch ANYWHERE that compares to the fare here. The service was outstanding--friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Sebastian and Mandy were so kind to feed me so well.
The chef, Matt, has made some incredible enhancements to soul-nourishing dishes of my Southern roots. I had the mushroom grits on my first visit. Lemme just tell you--that pecan pesto is a REVELATION. The mix of flavors and textures took me on a JOURNEY, y'all. If I had any shame at all, I'd be embarrassed by the happy wiggle-dance I was doing in my chair after every bite of that incredible dish. And the black-eyed peas I ordered for a side? The SEASONING. Wow. Don't miss 'em.
My second visit was this morning--pork belly grits with a side of sweet corn succotash. I added two eggs and gouda to this glory and I won't need to eat again until dinner. The presentation! The richness! Augh. I'm sad I don't get to stay longer to enjoy more items on the menu. And that succotash had a spicy tail on it! Nipped you right in the taste buds! YOW!
The place itself feels very comfortable and cozy. I sat at the bar both times because I love to chat with the staff when I dine alone. Everyone was so incredibly warm and hospitable. I even got to MEET the chef and hug his neck for such incredible cuisine. I have a lot of love for Delilah's. Please...
Read moreMy husband and I had stopped in to eat this morning and have been here several times before. My husband walked in with a newly opened vitamin drink. No where on the doors, in their menu, etc. states outside drinks were not acceptable. We always still order our coffees, juices, etc. The waitress that seated us never said a word while seating us. As soon as we sat down, she said “we don’t accept outside beverages so if you could just drink it that would be great.” He said “well, I just opened it” and proceeded to set it on the floor. She said “well, you need to just drink it.” He said “it’s full”. “Well, sorry.” And she walked away. He took the drink back to our car. When he came back in she then came to the table and said, “now what can I get you to drink?” Nope. Now it’s just water. Never once asked how we were, the worker at the bar is the only one who even said hi. So let me get this right, you are going to push away customers whose bill will be $35+ before a tip over a $2 vitamin drink?? You don’t offer vitamin drinks, the waitress had no clue what it even was…so needless to say, we got up and walked out and headed somewhere else for breakfast. We will never be back and will be happy to share our...
