This restaurant was highly recommended, so we decided to come here for a double date. We arrived around 7 pm on a Saturday evening. We were told it would be a wait, or we could sit at one of the bar tables. We chose a bar table. Each bar table has four chairs, and it would be fine if your just having drinks and sharing a appetizer. However, with four of us eating, the table was far too small, and we could barley fit our plates at the table. I wish the host would have mentioned that prior to letting us know it was a option. We would have waited for a full size table.
To begin, our friends ordered the mango margaritas, which they thought were fine. I ordered a red wine sangria. It was very disappointing. It had a brown cloudy color and I couldn't taste any hint of wine or fruit what so ever. It tasted like they put brandy in it or some other alcohol. I was contemplating whether they had served me the wrong drink.
One of my friends ordered the fajitas. This was the one good looking dish of the evening. It came out nice and hot, condiments and tortillas on the side. It was messy to assemble, but all of us were wishing we had ordered that instead of our choices.
My other friend ordered the chimichanga. which she said was fine. The rice was overcooked and had the same texture as the refried beans though.
My fiancé ordered the two tacos, selecting pulled beef as his meat. The meat was very bland at the bottom of the taco, ad it was 75% lettuce on top of the meat. They were ok tasting, but something we could easily make at home.
I ordered the enchilada, choosing seafood as the filling. The seafood was imitation crab and shrimp. They were very generous with the serving of meat. The enchilada did not taste baked. It seemed like they put hot filling in the tortilla and put sauce over it. Due to the excessive sauce, it was very soggy. Also, paring a red sauce with seafood wasn't a good combination. They should have opted for a green chili sauce with the seafood filling.
Our waiter was really great and attentive. We stayed for quite a while and the bar tender kept coming over and interrupting our conversation, I think in hopes to sell more drinks. That was off putting.
Overall, we...
Read moreWe went out for our anniversary and looks like Google steered us wrong for once. First sign was that the salsa seemed to have been made with pepper spray. I have a high tolerance and rather enjoyed the burning. Which didn't subside for an extended period. Chips were soft or stale.
Waitress was nice but brief. It's as though waiting on us was a means to an end. She didn't write anything and was walking away during the order. This prevented us from ordering appetizers. She wanted the menus and two meal orders nothing more. While burning we had no choice but to sip the drinks which didn't taste right.
A slight stir of my Wife's drink revealed multiple black rotten leaves and long blondish hair mixed in. She tried pulling it out but the hair was wrapped around something within the drink. I asked my Wife to leave it be. At that time we decided this meal is over and should stop touching things.
We showed the waitress the black leaves and hair while letting her know we wished to pay and leave. It seemed to snap her out of her mission oriented mindset. We don't eat from restaurants that serve thing so rotten they turned black. Things go bad before turning black.
She took the drink to show the owner and offered to comp the drink. We said we wished to pay for the meal but would not eat the food and wished to leave. She went back to the owner then said our food was done and offered to comp our meal while apologizing.
We told her no thanks and left the premises. I feel as though we made the right decision for our health. Food done in a few minutes was either someone else's or it was done a long time ago.
One or more individuals at Los Banditos are knowingly serving unsafe products to the public. Whatever the reason incompetence or accident be damned. My wife drank from that black hairy drink before seeing what she thought were shadows. That pisses me off to no end. We didn't do anything to these people. Throw out rotten things before serving is that so hard? And why cant I...
Read moreHorrible Food!!!! I'm better off going to the frozen food section of the market and microwaving my meal!! I'm not just saying this because I'm crazy. I'm over 30 years of age, born in Mexico, lived in Texas, i have traveled the Unites States. I know Mexican food and this isn't it! The music they were playing was English music from the 90's and earlier. Some of the wall decorations didn't even make sense. The outside of the building may have a Mexican feel to it, but the inside and food was terrible. The worst part of it all, is I could hear the music coming from the kitchen...it was actual Mexican music, they were listening to!! Yet the food came out bland, needing salt and seasoning. The chilli con queso had a powder texture to it. As if they forgot to stir the powder and water properly to get a smooth texture. The chips tasted a day or two old. You have to work at crushing the chips with your teeth. There was no fresh crunch to any of the chips. The salsa portion was very small for the amount of old chips they bring out. My daughters tacos had a small portion of shredded meat. 90% of the tacos was lettuce and 5% shredded cheese and 5% shredded chicken. My chile rellenos were flat and ugly looking. I was afraid to try them, but I was hungry. My wife's Fajits were bland with no real flavor to them. I had to add salt and pepper, just so they would have some taste to them. Oh, and the veggies that came with the fajitas had no flavor at all either...and they're veggies!! Veggies always have some flavor, but surprisingly these didn't. I don't have a cold nor am I sick. My taste buds work perfectly... a meal for 3 including the Chile con queso cost me $57!!!!! Never again will I visit this location. Never!... money isn't an issue, I paid for my meal at full price. This was very...
