10 stars. This place is excellent. When you’re ready for the best Mexican food experience of you life; pack up the kids, get your elastic waist band pants on and get down to El Fogon as fast as you can. They are either telepathic or just that fast at making food. Both times I’ve been there (granted it wasn’t packed) around lunch time, I had some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had and served so fast I was shocked. I got the El Fogon burrito both times with chicken. Bring a friend to eat this one. And the price was so nice ! I think like $11.95. It’s a $20 value burrito for sure. I had to cut it in half and take the rest for dinner. To add context, I once ate 16 pancakes at an I hop after a full meal. I ate the 16th pancake to Europes Final Countdown. The place was a madhouse. Subsequently that same IHOP burnt to the ground the next day. Look it up. (back to El Fogon) The best part is that we came in 3 deep today, all ordered and it was out in less than 6 minutes. And their salsa is out of bounds. They should jar it and sell it. If you go there and don’t love it you’ve got some serious soul searching to do my friend. #TheBeethovenOfBurritos #TheAyatollahOfGuacamollah #GetItBeforeItsELFogon #Blessed
Quick update - this place does not stop with incredible food. Straight bangers every time. Got the lunch fajitas. They put a sacrilegious amount of shrimp in it. It was so much shrimp, make your lip go limp. Keep it up everyone....
Read moreEl Fogón was recommended to me by a couple of vendors nearby. It was a good choice given the variety of chain restaurants in the vicinity. It impressed me that the parking was nearly full at 7:30pm. The staff was very cordial even with the crowd, and I was seated immediately. A large basket of chips and bowl of salsa were brought to me within a minute or 2 of being seated. My server, Maria, was gracious, personable, and checked on me at good intervals. I ordered the Chori Pollo as one of the vendors had talked it up. When I asked for a substitute for the rice and beans, Maria gave a n excellent suggestion of the guacamole salad. The salad lightened what could have been a heavy meal. The chicken breast was butterflied and grilled making it a bit dry and tough in parts. However, the well seasoned and succulent chorizo and cheese sauce which topped the chicken helped to counter that issue and made it a rather enjoyable meal. The flan was as it should be, a glaze that was nearly caramelized and a smooth texture. My only complaint is that they don't have horchata.
And to the "napkin thieves" who sat beside me, thank-you for your...
Read moreUpdated review - and still a great one. I miss living near this excellent dinner choice and our visit this week was like a homecoming. STILL eating the Armando special, STILL having a 1/2 pitcher of margs, and the salsa is still the best around.
November 2022: El Fogon has never disappointed us. Over the weekend I ate here with a friend, and ordered something I'd never had before, the Armando special. It's the same perfect little twists of chicken breast, on a bed of rice with white queso on top. (See photo) It could have used more flavor, but there was a handy bottle of Cholula nearby. I'd have appreciated fresh tortilla triangles, our were not. The salsa has gotten pretty runny - watch out for dribbling it on your shirt - but the flavor was good. Side note: we would come more often like we used to, if only the Regal Cinema next door would actually have movies that people...
