My husband and I decided to try China Chef for lunch and were surprised at the $4.95 lunch specials. You get a lot for your money and the selection is large. The lunch special includes your choice of a main entree, fried rice, an egg roll and your choice of soup.
We started with the wonton soup, which I thought was pretty good. It was your standard bowl of chicken broth with 2 large wontons. It came with a side bowl of cripsy fried wonton wrappers. Not bad. My husband didn't like the wontons so I got his too (win!).
For our entree, we both ordered the pepper steak. The meat was tender and the onions and green pepper were not overcooked. The sauce was a bit bland and got lost in the onion/pepper flavors. A few sprinkles of the table soy sauce took care of that.
The egg roll was acceptable but not off the charts. The table sauce is a sweet duck sauce that I didn't care for but I'm sure I could have gotten some sweet and sour sauce if I had asked.
The fried rice was just rice coated with what I assume was soy sauce. Again, not spectacular but I ate it all, so you know it wasn't that bad.
The food was nice and hot and the service was pleasant and quick.
I'd say that if you're looking for a quick lunch at a bargain price, this is a...

Staff are very Friendly. Owner 🤔 kind of quiet .
MISS MAE ( Don't know how she Spelled Her Name ) She was ALWAYS so Friendly & took time to at least say Hello 🤗👋 to those she knew were in on a Weekly basis. She's not there now 😥😭😭😥. Don't know what happened between Her & Owner ( Were thought , they were Husband/Wife ) all the Year's Eve been coming to this place ( when they were in the Old Building ) & now this New Building. Were so happy for them.
To bad 😔 She didn't " rub off " on Owner more. He's very quiet & Walks around checking in things on Bar which is good.... Just needs a little bit more Smiles .
We call him the " Warden " * Way he walks around so quiet , sometimes seems creepy.
But 🤔 Food is Good , so we just assume that's his Personality. I'm very Shy , myself ** but I would still speak to my Customer's some..... In hopes to keep them...
Read moreI think a lack of competition in the area helps this restaurant cash in on higher ratings than it deserves. I find that every menu item pretty much tastes the same. I have had Moo Shu outside of this area that have very specific ingredients that were not in this dish. It was basically cabbage, carrots and a piece of broccoli. The vegetables were too hard for my mother to chew. The "pancake" wrappers that come with the dish were just miniature mexican tortillas. Plain brown rice--not fried rice. I also waited a pretty long time for my order while others who ordered after me were served. Overall..they...
