Went here back at mother's day, and I wasn't impressed. I know this review is a few weeks late, but I wanted to make sure I shared our experience. I have had food from Elizabeth's pizza at their other locations like Thomasville, and have thought it was okay in the past. This location just wasn't doing it though.
First off, with it being one of the busiest days of the year for a restaurant, (you can be the judge if this is good or bad, but for me it's a red flag.) there was hardly anyone there. I have been in a couple of family style Italian restaurants and some of them are cozy. This place is like sitting in a combination of your great aunts house and a indoor yard sale. It's cramped and dark.
The waitress was nice, but didn't like the fact that she was coming to the table every two minutes. (She also ran my card wrong, and I ended up over paying.)
As for the food, it was mediocre. It's not bad, but I definitely didn't want to take the left overs home. The pricing is way too high for what you get. Sure the portions were good, but it just doesn't make up for the taste. For three people, the bill was $50, and we just ate a salad, small sub, and a plate of manicotti.
All and all, I don't think this place is worth the time or price. I like to support local businesses, but this place isn't one of the better options...
Read moreFirst time visiting this restaurant, and although the service was good and the decor was nice, I was disappointed in our food. I ordered gnocchi bolognese, and when the waitress brought it out, I thought the wrong sauce was put on because there was no meat or other vegetables visible by eye (no joke), only red sauce. Bolognese is a classic hearty meat sauce often also with veggies like carrots and onions, and so needing a microscope to find the meat (and barely able to taste meat) and no veggies was not my expectation, especially considering it cost a couple of dollars more than their tomato sauce. The gnocchi itself was light and fluffy, which at least I enjoyed.
We also ordered the kids ravioli for our son, and it was three smallish raviolis on a plate for $6.99 (which is more than a typical kid's meal at comparable restaurants), and, more importantly, our 4 year old was still quite hungry after eating it. They charged us an additional $2.09 for a drink that was almost all ice, and most places include the drink in the kids meal.
Although the food was ok and we ate it, we do not feel that we got what we...
Read moreI've known the owners, Carmine & George since they started up at the Wendover location. Upright & honest men, who always take care of their patrons! I grew up in the mountains of NC, but have extended family in Brooklyn & Staton Island. We've traveled there many times over the years. So, I feel like I can give at least an amateur stab at stating I can tell the difference between good NY style pizza & others. Elizabeth's Pizza off Wendover Ave is one of the best I've been to in Greensboro, NC!!! I personally have Never had bad food or service. As far as the wait staff goes...ppl come & go, but the owners are always there to try to give you the best they have. For those who said they wouldn't come back, I feel sorry for you. You're missing out on a great place to eat & enjoy your own company or take home to your own place. No one is perfect all the time & if I had to guess, each of you have not given your very best everyday, either. Hands Down, they are fantastic at food & service. Don't wait on some review...go & ENJOY some great food for yourself...
