I purchased two side salads and a pizza online and specifically asked for no cheese because my wife has a dairy allergy. I picked up my order and asked the girl if they made sure there was "no cheese"; she confirmed that there was no cheese. I arrived home and found that the salads were made correctly. My wife opened the pizza box, and the pizza had cheese. I immediately went back and told the same girl my concern. She told me I had ordered the salads without cheese. She acted like she didn't believe me, I offered my receipt, but she went on the machine and realized they made a mistake. She told the cooks, and they started making my correct pizza. I asked her if she could make any price adjustments due to their mistake. She mentioned the company who takes the payments online is a separate company. She offered 10% off my next visit. I declined and said that's not going to work because I'm not coming back for awhile. I told her I live on the other side of town and had to come all the way back due to their mistake. She offered to remake the pizza and offered me a drink while I waited. I went back to the counter and asked for some free toppings at least. I said to her "no meat and no cheese." She had a little smirk as I went back to the booth as I waited. When I picked up my order, they added a few mushrooms on the pizza. When I picked up the pizza, she asked me, "would you like to take the other pizza"? I declined and restated that my wife has dairy food allergy, and we don't eat meat. She apologized for the mistake. Throughout the whole ordeal, the employees looked confused and didn't act like they knew how to process and...
Read moreThis review is only for those who have moved to the Triad from North of Delaware. I think I can speak firmly here because I grew up in the pizza circle of the US. If you check any real pizza joint list in the US, you will see that NY, NJ, and Connecticut dominate the list. The competition up there is real. So, your job moved you to the Triad and Mario's pizza enters every pizza talk you have with your co-workers. You'll hear all this New York style slices talk and how the owners are from New York. When you first move here the locals will tell you that Elizabeth and Mario's are king around these parts. If you are from NY, NJ, or Connecticut, you should tame your expectations to Little Caesar levels. I'm sorry to sound so blunt but this stuff isn't pizza. My office has had two pizza parties featuring Mario's and the sauce is disgusting and as a previous reviewer stated, leaves an after taste. I was so shocked that I actually went to Mario's myself and ordered a single slice. It's the weirdest thing ever, but I've found over the years that sometimes even solid pizzerias can push out terrible pies, but great single slices. Wisdom might say slices come from pies. Anyhow, I ordered a single slice and confirmed that the sauce is simply disgusting and the dough needed to be cooked longer. There is a saying down here that I never heard before. It goes, "Oh bless your heart". It's one of the most sarcastic sayings I've heard in the South. I'm saying Bless your heart to anyone who has grown up with this pizza and has never tasted real pizza from up north. I may have to consider moving back to New York just...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Mario’s Pizza since I discovered them several years ago. As of November 27th 2021 that will all change. Mario’s is nearly a 20 minute drive from where I live and they don’t deliver. I spent over $62.00 for pizza and appetizers only to discover I was given the wrong order when I got home. The order wasn’t even comparable to what I ordered. Understandably, I was a little heated, but I kept my composure.
I jumped back in my vehicle to return what was given. On the way I called the store to explain my situation. They agreed to correct my pizza order. I also asked for fresh appetizers for having to drive 20 minutes back to the store and another 20 minutes back home. The manager of the store refused. I explained that I was bringing the food back I needed a full refund. They refused to accept the food (standard practice for health reasons) and explained that I would have to go through the refund policy of the online service they use. Fine.
I’ve been in customer service for over 20 years. I understand the importance of making things right to satisfy a customer when mistakes are made. That didn’t happen in my case. Therefore, I will never frequent that store again. Mario’s has good food that sells itself. However, customer service is what brings people back. At best, I may frequent their other stores if I’m in the area and in the mood. I will only be dining in as well. Therefore, this experience will make me and my family far less frequent patrons of...
