We went to this restaurant in summer and loved it! I don’t know what happened since but this last time we went the food turned out horrible. I was trying to figure out how it tasted so bland. I ordered the red pepper penne pasta and it did not have any garlic, basil, or sun dried tomatoes as advertised - VERY over priced oily noodles is what I got. When the plate came out it was super duper hot and the cheese made all the noodles stuck together with 3 cups or so of oil at the bottom of the plate. I was very disappointed cause we traveled an hour away from home for our anniversary dinner and it was the most bland thing I’ve ever ate in my whole life. I don’t think we will ever be back. Photo to show no garlic, basil, or sun dried tomatoes. Just noodles, peppers, tons of oil, and a few peppers. Yucky.

this is probably the first restaurant i remember coming to as a child - my dad loved this restaurant and would bring us here on sundays for nice occasions! i LOVE sunset cafe.... used to be called emily's back in the day. anyhow, forgive my waxing nostalgic; the food here is real deal, authentic italian... the pizza has the cheese on the crust with toppings and sauce on top next ! if you come to greensburg, visit the sunset cafe ?

We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated in the small room (3 tables) before the big dining room. At first, it was a little chilly in there, but it ended up being just fine. The waitress was super friendly and accommodating. The bread and oil was perfect, salads were amazing. The added beets and pasta were a great addition. The entrees of Italian Sampler and Shrimp Scampi were perfect. I will definitely return. Thank you!

We have visited Sunset for years and liked it. However, this weekend was the last time we’ll probably go there.

We had reservations for 6 people at 6:45. They appeared to be short staffed because the hostess was also setting up tables. After 20 minutes she said sorry but people at finished tables aren’t leaving so we’ll have to squeeze you in. What that meant was sitting at a table for 4, with two of us in chairs facing each other with no table between us. It was absurd but we were told it was the best they could do. Well that didn’t change the fact that they apparently expected 2 of us to eat with our plates in our laps. Also, the 2 extra chairs were so close to the table next to us that those folks would not have been able to leave. Customers at other tables were looking at us in disbelief. At 30 minutes past our reservation the lone waitress for the room still hadn’t even brought water so 2 of us left. We drove 20 minutes home, stopped for burgers on the way, and were home and done eating before the 4 that remained had gotten their food. The waitress didn’t ask if they wanted anything to drink besides water. There was no acknowledgment by any of the staff of the situation that they put us in or offer of a discount, free dessert, etc. Just a pathetic display of customer service. Really disappointing because in the past we had enjoyed eating there.

Since it doesn't look like I am able to respond to the owner's questions, I will edit the review and answer them here: It was Saturday, 5/11/2024, and we were seated in the right rear room past the stairs going up to the second floor. The hostess was a young girl with long dark hair. I have no idea what our servers name was because we left before she made it to the table to tell us her name. Female with a thinner build, medium brown hair tied up, and I believe a few tattoos. Thanks for your interest in addressing the situation so that it hopefully doesn't happen to...

Have been eating here for years. Was our go to place for Italian. We recently had 7 in for a birthday celebration. I will summarize our experience below, but if you don’t feel like reading - the food was not good at all. So the reservation process is modern and efficient. The restaurant was clean and well staffed. Our server was terrific and attentive. The menu is large with plenty of choices. The food arrived in a timely manner and was all hot. Presentation and quantity was nice. So far so good. Our table ordered a pizza, Italian sausage and penne, shrimp, eggplant, linguine with clam, chicken Romano and fettuccine Alfredo. In total, 7 meals, not one person enjoyed the food flavor. The pizza sauce was just bad, can’t describe why, just not tasty at all. The fettuccine was borderline inedible, jarred sauce would have been an upgrade. The eggplant was flavorless, the shrimp over cooked, the clam sauce bland, the chicken was ok, and the sausage dish was way too oily. It is a shame. We ordered take out here all through Covid because we enjoyed the place and wanted to try to help them survive. However, they have lost us at this point...

A few years back a Realtor friend ask if I knew of anyone interested in purchasing the Sunset Restaurant as the owner was retiring. I was told the food was excellent, as well as the service and price so my wife and I decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised at the portions, service and pricing so we continued to dine at the Sunset.

The Sunset was then sold and my first concern was would things stay the same and the new owners suggested that would be the case so we continued to dine there. Yesterday my wife called and made us a reservation for dinner given it was a Saturday evening to ensure seating. We waited 45 minutes for the pre dinner salad to be served and had to ask twice for Bread and dipping sauce. An hour passed before we were served the main course and we were seated upstairs next to the crash cart where dirty plates and utensils are placed. When we left my wife expressed our dissatisfaction and was told next time to ask for the first floor dining area instead of the top floor. WE WON'T BE COMING BACK.

BTW, you texted my wife and your link does not work. ...
