Giving 2 stars because the food itself wasn't too bad of taste. They are not like they used to be. Its very unfortunate. My family loved this place. We gave them business several times a month. We were very excited at their return. We went recently and were very disappointed that the buffet was cut in half. Very limited items. But, we dealt with it. We didn't let that bother us, because the food was still good. What wasn't ok is them letting us know as we were done eating that our child, who doesn't eat Indian food, would be charged $5 for sitting with us. What am I supposed to do with my child? This was absolutely obsurd. I have eaten in many buffet restaurants and have never in my life been told that if you are taking up a seat(which would have been empty had my child not been sitting there), then I would be charged $5. This is greed at its best. Not to mention th price of the buffet is ridiculous and you can't tip what you want to tip. They add the tip to your bill. I always want best for businesses, but when you become greedy then it will not get you far. Just a warning to anyone with children or anyone in your party who is there and not eating the food. It would have been nice to know that before we got our bill. I hope this is...
Read moreI love Indian food. I’ve tried Handi’s lunch buffet, dine-in dinner, and catering – here’s my take:
The good: The naan is outstanding – perhaps the best in the Upstate! Staff are friendly and attentive, and parking is easy enough.
The not-as-good: While the food has flavor, it doesn’t lean toward the distinctive Indian spice profile. Most dishes are overly salty, leaving you reaching for water the rest of the day. The buffet selection also felt unbalanced. Of the three vegetable-based entrées, two featured the same overcooked, mushy mixed vegetables. The lentil dish was a highlight (albeit salty), but I was surprised there wasn’t a paneer option, which is a staple at many Indian buffets. If you enjoy chicken in mild, salty sauces, you may find the offerings more to your liking. However, I wouldn’t recommend Handi's buffet to those seeking plant-based options, which is disappointing given how traditionally vegetarian-friendly Indian cuisine...
Read moreThis was, without exaggeration, one of the most disappointing, overpriced, and insulting meals I’ve ever suffered through. The portions were so absurdly small, I honestly thought they’d sent out a sample by mistake. If you’re hungry, do yourself a favor and head to a gas station you’ll get more food and probably better service. The prices? Absolutely criminal. For what they served, it felt like I was being pranked. A few bland bites for the price of a full meal elsewhere it’s hard to describe how frustrating that is. I walked out still hungry and genuinely furious.
I’ve been to many Indian restaurants all across the country, and I have never felt so disrespected as a customer.Avoid this place like your worst ex. It’s a total cash grab with zero authenticity, zero warmth, and zero value. If disappointment were a restaurant, this would be it. I wouldn’t send my...
