All 4 of us had a different special. I was 1/2 of the 2 for $24 special and it came with an appetizer for 2 (we got spinach dip with nachos and it was very good). For $5 extra you can "upgrade" your meal and I got the grilled chicken & shrimp. Came with sautéed onions and mashed potatoes. There was a very large portion of potatoes, but I was surprised how small the serving was of the actual entree. The piece of chicken was thin and small. It's rare that I don't have leftovers when I eat out. In fact, I can't even remember the last time. If the special was $12 each meal + my $5 upgrade = $17 and it didn't include soup or salad, but a shared appetizer. Yes, it was a special and maybe I should have expected less, but the price wasn't THAT special! I would never order another special from there and will spend a few dollars more for the soup/salad and regular size meal.
We each got dessert. The brownie bites looked good, but very small. Think they're meant to be, though. Two people got the butter pecan blonde with ice cream & caramel. They both looked great and they were happy with their order. Everything had vanilla ice cream, which i don't like, and no other flavors, so I got the mini cinnamon rolls with cream cheese type sauce for dipping. It was delicious, but overpriced. Compared to the blonde deserts for the same price, very disappointing!
Otherwise, parking was great, the atmosphere was really good and all the food was delicious. The prices were fair for a lot of the food, but not all. I guess you have no way of knowing.
I did have specialty dring: a manor sangria. It was really large & delicious. Definitely had plenty of alcohol.
The waitress was phenomenal! Prompt, friendly, helpful and covered all the bases. So great when that happens.
I'll be back, I'm sure, because my parents like it. I don't mind it, but not my first choice only because I don't feel pricing is on target for...
Read moreHere's a change, the best thing was that the service was good, the waitress efficient, friendly & courteous. Everyone at the restaurant was.
However, the meat my wife ordered was supposed to be medium-rare. The waitress verified it as she wrote the order. It wasn't. We don't waste food so my wife ate it anyway & did not tell the waitress.
My shrimp plate was actually tasty & good. It wasn't hot. It was warm.
Applebee's went to all the trouble of making a good plate & then served it warm. Steaming hot would have been great, especially shrimp.
We ate outside & had to ask for salt because all the shakers outside were clumped. The waitress went inside to get a fresh salt shaker.
Then, had to go back & get napkins since we used the first set with our appetizer. What's up with the shortage of napkins? Certainly cheap thin brown paper napkins aren't that expensive.
Lots of wasted waitress walking time. Not very good time mangement. She should've had what she needed -- outside.
I like Applebee's, they're usually good & reliable. But, the portion of meat this time -- skimpier than the last time. Is this a discouragement plan for the 2 for $20 deal? If so, think of some other marketing approach.
You're dealing with hunger & tastebuds in this business. So remember, there's always Red Robin, Ruby Tuesday's, TGIF's, Perkins, & Cracker Barrel. People have short memories when they leave & are still hungry.
I do give them 4 stars ** for good personnel. Everyone tonight who greeted us were friendly & courteous. And we didn't come at peak hours. So, the food should not have suffered. Take your time, get it right. Your waitress was better than the food. Don't embarrass her, she represents what is served to...
Read moreWaitress was nice and food was ok. Chips were extremely salty like someone dump salt on them. Mozzarella stick were cold. But what I’m mostly dissatisfied with was the front of the house greeter. It was an older women who was working there. We were not greeted she didn’t say hi back when I said it to her. Look I get it we all have a bad day sometimes but I felt I should mention it here due to her actions. She tried to seat us at the bar but I have two family member who are old and have trouble walking there is no way they can go up those high chairs. So I asked nicely if they have any booths available. She said no even though there were plenty of booths in the front available. She than changed her mind and told us there’s a booth in the corner. The whole time she is trying to seat us at the booth she is lecturing and being snippy with me about how I was asking about a booth at certain section and how I can’t have it because the waitress in that section is doing a big table of 6 guests and can’t do any more tables. She would not let me speak and when I did she just spoke over me and got louder. The crazy part is I never wanted a specific booth I had just asked for any booth or any table that weren’t high like the ones at the bar. She made up this situation in her head or going crazy. This experience was horrible and it felt like the mood was ruined. And I didn’t deserve to be spoken to that way when I was nice to her the whole interaction. Will not...
