We have been loyal customers to Frank's Pizza as we think they have the best pizza in town. However, our last 2 recent experiences have not been pleasant.
Over the holidays, we ordered several pies about 40 minutes from closing. Upon arrival, as we waited for our pizza, a worker was on the phone. When she saw my brother arrive, she said a few choice words in Spanish because it was near closing time. The funny thing is we speak Spanish, and when we asked who she was commenting on (no one else in the store), the manager said it was not directed at us and that she was on the phone.
Now fast forward to this past week. We entered for dinner, and our waitress was nice and attentive at first. My husband asked for broccoli and cavatelli. She asked my husband what kind of pasta he wanted. We were a.bit confused and reminded her that cavatelli is the pasta...again an easy mistake on her behalf. We weren't shaken up by it at all. She asked what kind of bread we wanted, and we both responded to garlic. She returned 2 times there after to ask what kind of bread we wanted. We were still not bothered or upset by these minor things...
Then our food arrives. I asked for lasagna, and the picture you see is what I got. When she first asked if everything was OK, we said everything was fine as I was just hungry and figured maybe the flavor would have me look over my pile of mush (not lasgna) ... I took several bites, and it was not good at all. Mostly cheese and whatever meat they used was not good. When she returned to check on us, I kindly said. "To be honest, this is not a lasagna and what it should look like or taste." Her response was not apologetic at all but instead said well I don't know, I've never had it. " She made no attempt to fix the situation or offer another meal. I understand I'm not dining at a 5 star establishment, but most people know what lasagna is and what it should look and taste like. Not a pile cheese, sauce, and mush.
Then, from there forth, she was just rude and slapped the check on the table and threw the pen on the table.
I dont need to make a scene, so I paid and off I went. With no desire to ever return.

Read moreFranks is my favorite pizza shop in Phillipsburg. I’ve literally had a slice of every pizza store I could find in Phillipsburg and Frank’s came out on top as my personal winner every time.
The garlic knots are my absolute favorite thing on the menu. They’re soft, flavorful, and the warm marinara that accompanies it makes it even better. Their veggie slices are also delicious.
I often also get the grilled chicken salad. It’s usually fresh with such flavorful chicken. Every now and then the quantity of the amount of chicken will be off vs the price you paid for it but that doesn’t happen too often.
If you’re picking up, order ahead of time because they are usually busy.
The only downside is the pricing. They have a lot of signage reminding you that their pricing has changed just so it’s not a surprise to anyone. It can get pretty expensive but at least you know you’re getting good food.
Every so often there may be things like little mistakes with your order but they’re usually always willing to fix any problems you may have!
I’ve never sit down to eat, I usually do takeout so I’m not sure how the waiting surface is but the employees at the counter are usually really nice.
There is ample seating in the store and ample parking outside.
All in all, there isn’t much about Frank’s that isn’t good. They’re well worth it so definitely pop in and...
Read moreMy son and I ordered the fried pierogies, and to our surprise, they came served on a plate with "blue cheese" dressing instead of SOUR CREAM 😯, so I thought, well this waitress may be new and she looks very young, so maybe she doesn't know how it should be, so I asked her if she can please bring us sour cream. In a minute, she returned to say that they were out of sour cream, so they gave Blue Cheese.
From working in food/customer service and owning a family restaurant growing up, I can't tell you how many times I was sent to the "market boy" store down the road to get anything we needed if we were to run out, JUST SO THAT WE WOULD KEEP OUR CUSTOMERS SATISFIED!!
I MEAN , WHO SERVES FRIED PIEROGIES WITH BLUE CHEESE?? AND I AM A BLUE CHEESE LOVER!!!! YOU MUST HAVE SOUR CREAM!!!!!!!
The stuffed shells were absolutely flavorless and mostly mozzarella without ricotta, my second most favorite cheese!!!
The chicken soup, nothing to write home about, and the orange garlic bread??, eh needed flavor too.
I really was craving some good Italian cooking, but I did not find that here, not tonite. Definitely was disappointed to spend too much money on food...
