This was our 2nd visit to Roscoe’s. We’d tried it once before and it was “okay.” Nothing BAD, just not “out of this world.” Decided to give it a 2nd shot after they reopened after the pandemic, and it was again “okay, tasty, but not to die for...”. My gripe is this... We’d even mentioned that it was our 2nd visit... We ordered the 5 chili tacos for $8 (counter girl - Crunchy or soft? My wife - soft), the Ground beef chili taco, the shredded chicken taco and the fowl burrito and one of their pounder nachos. The bill came to just under $44. Then the girl asked if I wanted my receipt and I said “please.”
First line was 5 chili tacos for $15.75... I paused , read it again, looked at the menu board, my receipt, the board, my receipt (you get the idea) and I then asked, um, why are the “5 tacos for $8” on my receipt for $15.75? I was then informed that the “SOFT tacos cost more than the crunchy ones.” !?!?! No mention AT ALL when asked if I wanted crunchy or soft ones even AFTER telling her that it was our 2nd visit. NO WHERE on the menu board or signage that we could find was there ANY statement or notice that there was a nearly 2-times UPcharge for a soft vs crunchy taco. I asked if they’d already started making them already and of course they had. They DID ask me if I wanted them to start over. The nice guy in me said, no, go ahead, you already started. They JUST reopened and I didn’t want them to waste the food. But you look anywhere and they’ve got PLENTY of signs about the 10 cent charge per cup for the special sauce being “extra” if you want more. Hey, how about the sign for the $8 dollar extra charge on the soft vs crunchy taco bundles? They DID throw in a few cookies at no charge though. Not that I eat cookies. Some ADDED signage on the “soft shells “ being EXTRA would be nice. It’s the principle that I’m irritated with. We might go back, we may not. Who knows. We wanted to support a local business but felt like we got “had” instead is all. Putting some signs up would...
Read more👎👎 Lately the food is always lukewarm and they don't give you enough sauce without charging extra. I also learned a long time employee was injured on the job and there was no Human Resources to give her workman's comp which she deserved after falling at work. I'm not going back again ever after hearing that they didn't provide insurance coverage for employee injured at work. The owner promised to pay her medical bills. She told me she contacted her employer to say she had the bills together and the owner ghosted her.
🙏 UPDATE #1 -- You can read the unhinged threats against me and intimidation tactics from the store owner for repeating what I was told. She's threatening to sue me and take my home for repeating what I was told happened and that I believe to be true. I'm entitled to relate my experiences and repeat what I was told which has caused me to never go back.
🙏 UPDATE #2 (4/11/24) Roscoe has now targeted me for harassment on their business page on a different platform. He launched a public manhunt to find my identity and dox me for a truthful Google review based on my authentic experiences. (Screen shots saved). I noticed Roscoe replied to another Google reviewer here by threatening to publish surveillance video of her inside the restaurant. I suppose that's less egregious than retaliation to sue in attempt to seize the home of a senior citizen for writing a 1-star review. Sounds like he's he enjoys trying to scare old ladies who patronized his business for 14 years by threatening to make them homeless. I'm inclined to believe the public bullying of customers is more likely to harm his business than a single a review written by a nobody. Bullies don't demonstrate competent or trustworthy business leadership.
I'm not surprised by the hostility. Take care of your...
Read moreUpdating: Tried then again and was pleased with the tacos and service. I must have caught them on a bad day. (Really bad day) Enjoy the standard dressing on the tacos which include olives and sour crème. I have been getting the beef and bean chili tacos. Been back multiple times. Go to spot in Greenwood for me now.
Staff was insufferable. As I was looking at the menu a customer in the dining room informed the staff her side of beans was cold. Did they offer to replace? Nope, the girl behind the counter proclaimed their beans are hot. Awkwardly leaving the customer with food they were obviously unsatisfied with. Then my time to order and I tried to order 5 soft tacos and 5 hard shell tacos with a nacho plate. They informed me the tacos had to be all 10 be either soft or hard no mixing. I asked if I could order them separately and they agreed begrudgingly. I saw that on the menu that ordering two 5 packs ($8 each) was only $1 more than a $15 10 pack. Yet they told me the $26 order was going to be $46. The employees just continued to look at me and tell me that the price was correct yet was almost $20 more than the menu prices. I felt very unwelcome so left. Won’t return, recommend...
