I ate here for the first time yesterday with some friends and we had their platter(French toast, eggs, ham) and their French dip with the beer battered fries. Delicious. I ate until I couldn’t and fought to keep going cause my mom didn’t raise a quitter. Bottom line. I left there more stuffed than a turkey on thanksgiving day and was happily in a food coma. I don’t typically write reviews, something really, really good or really bad has had to have happened for me to take time out of my lazy schedule to do this. Here’s where I needed to write the review.
I contemplated taking one of their cookies home at the front desk because I love cookies, and at the same time I’m super picky about my favorite cookies - chocolate chip. I took one of theirs home and after finally coming out of my food coma decided to try it. For several months I used to be chronically obsessed with Crumbl Cookies, their classic choco chip. When I tell you this cookie is the CLOSEST resemblance, if not the exact same to that cookie. I’m not lying. I ate half and stored the other half in the freezer (cause that’s how I prefer CC’s) and it STILL tasted like theirs. And it’s way, way, cheaper? I was left truly perplexed.
Talk about big back activities and behavior. I will be back. Thank you for blessing me with your food. And the staff is...
Read moreWe came here with a larger group. The girls loved the aesthetics, & the men loved the food. Nuff said but I’ll elaborate.
There’s a reason why it’s called Nana’s place. We felt warmly welcomed, even with a larger group we didn’t feel like we were being a burden to them. They even set up the tables together so we could all be in one place. You order at the register & then sit down, but they still made their rounds to check in us, & refill our drinks. It was like having a whole bunch of your lovable servant-hearted aunts making sure you’re provided for & enjoying your meal.
Now about the food… the country Benedict was legit, country potatoes very good, the french toast was simple but was set apart from other restaurants. The best was the original cinnamon rolls. I’ve had my share of delicious cinna rolls, but this def made it in the top 3 & maybe rivaled the top. They generously topped it with both cream cheese frosting and cinnamon glaze. You felt years being shaved off your life because of how rich it was, but I think was worth it.
If I end up back in the Portland area again, I plan on...
Read moreI finally tried this place and was amazed. Every time I drive by the parking lot is full and today I found out why. You order breakfast first and then seat yourself but that didn't bother me at all, be prepared to know what you want especially if you're in a group. I've been hankering for Chicken fried steak and was pleasantly surprised. First off the staff was super polite and beyond friendly, they made me feel like a regular. They wright your name on a cute little chalk board in a mini planter-neat idea! I also ordored hot chocolate and it was awesome. My food arrived quickly and looked great. Eggs (over medium) were cooked perfectly as well as the home fries, neither were over or under cooked. And the Chicken fried steak was phenomenal. Again, perfectly cooked and you could easily tell it was scratch made as well as the sausage gravy. Writing my name had two uses, it told staff not only where I was, but who I was, greatly adding to the experience, and again, making me feel like a valued regular. This is my new go to breakfast joint and I can't wait taste...
