Sugar Cubed Cakes — Restaurant in Gresham

Just spent $70 on a "custom cake" that feeds 10. This is what I picked up. We gave them cupcake toppers as an idea of what we were doing and they literally just stuck them to the side of the cake. The cake topper part was also provided by us. Her name isn't written on the cake, it doesn't say that it's her first birthday anywhere, and there is not one thing on it that says that it was a custom cake. I could have ordered a better one from Safeway. Granted, I told them I am not the pickiest person in the world and told them that I trusted them to make it look great because they are the professionals but I did provide pictures of what I was looking for and this didn't even come close. I guess it is my fault because I trust them to be the experts and to know what looks best. No custom fondant items at all other than a star? Not even a dog bone or paw print? I am just baffled right now.

The worst part is when I went to pick it up the lady behind the counter seemed so proud of it and even took photos. I didn't have the heart to tell her how incredibly crushing it was to pick up this cake that disappointed me so much. I'm so embarrassed because I told everybody that I was having a great custom cake made and they will all be over soon and this is what I have to show them.

EDITED FOR THEIR RESPONSE: I am a very kind person. I still believe your staff was great in my interaction with them, no question there. I'm understanding and do take some responsibility for not being more specific. But if you look at the photos of what I sent you on what I was looking for and what was made, can you honestly say those two things match up? Please, look at this two things and be honest with yourself as they don't even come close. And I did, in fact, mention her age and name.

These are truly the best cupcakes I have ever had in my life. They are worth the trip to Gresham, the price, and overall the extra minutes on the treadmill or stair master I will have to do. My favorite are the Toasted Coconut.

Review on Yelp from Dec 8, 2019: Best cupcakes I've ever had and I hate cupcakes. I went to my nephews birthday party on Saturday and as I walked in I saw them on the counter. I said to myself I want one. I really want one. But honestly I didn't understand why. Since I hate cupcakes. Normally when I eat a cupcake I remove the frosting since it's gross and I just eat the bread but I'm always disappointed since the bread is stale hence why I hate them. From the moment I walked into this shop, I knew this was where I wanted to have my wedding cake and cupcakes created. I fell in love with the cupcakes after the first bite. They are delicious and moist, and the flavors are creative.

On the day of our tasting, the owner Kayla was attentive, and answered all of our questions. She put together an amazing assortment of cakes for us to taste-- and let us take home what we couldn't finish to share with our family, which we did later that night. Kayla also helped us figure out how big of a cake to order, and how many cupcakes we needed-- which really helped put me at ease, because I would have over ordered, and been left with cupcakes for days. (Not that that's a bad thing). They even had gluten free options! And pick-up and payment were incredibly easy.

I found the idea for our wedding cake online-- and the team was able to create a beautiful real-life version. It was perfect and delicious and went in seconds. My husband and I only got a bite, during the cake cutting. And then the guests swarmed the cake table-- and left behind crumbs.
