My opinions:
I was really glad to see a new downtown gresham coffee shop alternative. I've been here twice since they opened their gresham location. The first time was awesome! They have a lot of comfortable seating as well as tables for those that like a solid work area or are eating food. The space is really large, which is great because there is nothing worse than going for a coffee and having nowhere to sit. The staff are AWESOME, and super friendly, and are clearly well trained in their art. The coffee was well made and tasted good.
The second time that I stopped by wasn't as awesome as the first due to a few things I hadn't noticed the first time. I had missed the fact that they have an area with kids' toys, books, etc., and when I looked on their website, they call it their "dedicated kids area." Cool, right? Maybe for some, but maybe not for others? On this occasion, there were several families with kids present (probably 6 or 7 kids) The parents were sitting at one table not in the kids area (not really watching their kids), while the kids were running between the parents' table and the kids' area doing what kids do. It was REALLY LOUD. I moved tables twice, trying to avoid the toys flying across the floor and landing under my table and other kids' type chaos. I tried a third move to the other end of the shop; unfortunately there was an individual sleeping on one of the couches at the other end of the coffee shop who smelled like they hadn't bathed in a few months (no judgment, just stating fact). Several other customers had vacated this area for what I assume were reasons similar to my own. This made it really hard to find a spot to enjoy my coffee and get my work done, so I ended up leaving.
To be clear, I realize I'm not the only person in the shop, and we all have to be patient and "live and let live", and that everyone has the right to enjoy the shop.
All in all a great shop, just be aware that it may not always be the type of shop to expect to be able to get work or homework done on your laptop, or relax if you need an average coffee shop environment (ie: moderate conversational noise and pleasant smells.)
I will definitely be back, just with managed expectations, and probably...
Read moreUpdate 07/09/24. "New digs". Ordered a Breve Latte that was creamy caffeinated perfection. New spot has less windows and it's not as brightly lit but it gives a more older, established, and swankier feeling than previous space. Feels a lot more like Bipartisan Cafe. Wide space, more tables and seating than Cafe Delirium. Without an over abundance of over worn couches that you have to struggle to exit. Booths with tables you can reserve for meetings. Lots of bare walls which leave room for what I hope will be filled by local artists and stuff.
Service still attentive, pleasant and not unnerving or sacarine. In my post-dialogue dissections that I do as a eyerollingly nervous person I don't think I annoyed them.
I love this place. It's a gem in a world of coffee houses. Rolled a 19 today without modifiers. Thanks Legacy Coffee!
(old review...which still bears truth) I dig the energy and atmosphere here. Wide space. Plenty of room to sit and work. Comfortable and clean. I have been looking for a place to just sit and study and write papers. Coffee blends that I had were decent. I felt like their medium self serve drip was delicious. High octane stuff. Caffeine left me a little jittery. The decaf americano I had later was very nice as well Tasty and not brewed on the surface of the Sun so you have to wait an hour before its safe enough to drink. Bathrooms were clean. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The patrons were all friendly. Environment quiet. Decent music that did not date me too much. Eighties and nineties alternative/new wave.
The game theme really sold it for me. Colors and design feels 70's parents basement-esque ...and the d20 inspired "discount program" is chef's kiss. Lots of DnD 5e stuff. Board game shelf with a lot of euro style games. (honestly at first glance a lot of 2 player games so it strikes me as a pretty solid place to take a friend). I don't mean to squat on monopoly or mainstream games but there aren't many of those.
What can I...

Awesome café - unpretentious in the best way, the staff here clearly has a passion for quality coffee and excellent, warm hospitality (despite my late arrival, half an hour before close - bonus points for being open until 5PM, when I can sneak out of work early!). I got a pourover, which was brewed very well, given ample brewing time, from their well-chosen selection of beans - a variety from local roaster Intent, and a guest roaster, too (this time, Barn from Berlin) which seems sure to satisfy even the most discerning palates. I was especially pleased that they offered fruit-forward, lighter options here, and not only deep, dark, chocolatey roasts - they have you covered if that's your thing, though! The lead barista was an absolute pleasure to chat with, and I ended up buying two bags of beans for home brewing based on his recommendations - it was clear he had real familiarity with and interest in the product here, and I left looking forward to seeing what else they bring into rotation. Whether you're deep into coffee hipster tastes or just looking for something better than the local Starbucks, I can't imagine walking away from this place unhappy. I'll definitely be coming...
