Mama K's Pizza and Grille — Restaurant in Gurnee

I really hate to leave such a poor review, however our experience was so bad we ended up throwing out the pizza, beer nuggets, and bread sticks. The driver that delivered our stuff was very nice, and the pizza, bread sticks were hot, the beer dots were not acceptable temp. The onion rings were soggy and some of the batter wasn't even fully cooked, french fries were also soggy and warm at best. I understand fries and onion rings don't deliver well, however we were very close to the place and they should have come much hotter and less soggy, I think they were cooked up covered in styrofoam containers way before pizza was ready. Now, for the worst part the pizza, bread sticks, beer nuggets, chili hot dog sandwich and the bomber sandwich all had a common problem and it was NO FLAVOR, everything was bland at best. If I was a betting man I would say that all the crust for pizza, bread sticks, beer nuggets were all par baked frozen crust, it was not by any chance fresh made crust and it was flavorless. The little pizza sauce that was used was bland and definitely not made in house. I will say that the toppings and cheese were sufficient in quantity, the amount of fries you got was acceptable. A nice, well laid out shop. Nothing garish here! Well-mannered respectful staff, the facility is owned by the same family that runs and owns Captain Porky's and The Shanty. I had the Maxwell Street Polish with a side salad and a Sprite, my wife just had some soft serve frozen yogurt. My Maxwell Street Polish was very tasty, the grilled onions were done just right, the bun that the Polish was on was delicious, not too hard not too soft and just the right size for a big appetite. I really enjoyed it and will be going back to try the pizza and other items. I highly recommend this little nook of a shop, you can't go wrong here. Hey, they even have outside seating, sidewalk Cafe style.

Delicious sausage bomber with fries, my wife had Frozen yogurt shake. Different ownership than before, but the food is just as delicious! I would recommend stopping for a quick bite on the run! Really some of the nicest people.

08/04/2021 Went to Michael's in highland Park yesterday, today back to Mama k's. Mama K's beats Michael's hands down! They even gave me some frozen yogurt to take home to my sick wife at no charge! Like I said, some of the nicest people...

Officially just lost a customer. I have been ordering from this place since the original owners. It has been sold a couple of times. These CURRENT owners HORRIBLE SERVICE. The woman has a smart mouth and extremely sarcastic. Told her she'd get a bad review her response "I don't care what you do." Eye rolling, neck rolling cut me off as I was trying to speak. Using words like mhum and whatever. Told her with her attitude this place would not last too much longer. This place will ride the coattail of the previous owners for a while and then will probably be non existent. UPDATE FOR THEIR RESPONSE BELOW... I asked for the owner and the woman with the horrible attitude stated she IS the owner. So commenting stating “you’ll speak to your staff” is a deploy and a load of bologna. You can’t reprimand the owner. When I stated I’d write a review she didn’t care so don’t try to reply with lies. Keep that same energy you had when giving horrible service.
