Chick-fil-A — Restaurant in Gurnee

Not all hero's get their stories told, sometimes, good deeds go unnoticed. The closing Crew of 08/28/24 were, are my heroes. The munchies were kicking in and decisions had to be made. Knowing old reliable is always there and is a constant hit, there really wasn't another place to go. Although there was a mess-up on the order- wanted 3 orders of Tenders but only got 1. I did not want to be those guys ordering food last minute before closing but there I was, at their mercy. When we figured out the order was wrong, they could had let me know they couldn't fulfill it, that it was too late, maybe even the kitchen close or the McDonalds way out, "The ice cream machine is broken" although you didn't order ice cream. But no, this isn't McDonalds and this isn't your average crew. The lady who took my order, who had provided some whip cream for my puppy, rolled up her sleeves and commanded her troops for one last task of the night. My order was taken, although hatred was in the air, completely understandable, she rallied her troops and completed the order. Going above and being the call. The service they provided, the atmosphere they had, although they were deep in the trenches, they did not fold. I survived the munchies but it wouldn't had been able to without, again, The Legendary Crew of 08/28/24. I owe you guys one for coming through, I tip my hat to you guys and little snooky, who took my order. They deserve a raise, much more than this...

Service needs improving. The initial glow of this location seems to have worn off somewhat. I ordered takeout at the register. There were several problems. The cashier input my order incorrectly, first charging me for two soups instead of one. While still there, the manager refunded the extra soup charge but it turns out the refund was for less expensive soup. One of our sandwiches was wrong which I didn't discover until I got home. I was not offered any sauce for my chicken strips. I had to ask for a drink carrier, even though I was by myself and had 3 drinks and an over packed bag sitting on the counter. Also, why not just provide an extra paper bag instead of cramming my entire order into one bag that couldn't even be closed? UPDATE: Minus 1 star. Service has actually gotten worse. A recent drive thru visit resulted in 2 entirely wrong sandwiches discovered once we arrived home. On our last visit, we were given our drinks in a carrier but one drink cup had a gash in the bottom which caused it to leak all over our car. The kids working there seem enthusiastic but unfocused on the customer...

Our family eats Chick-fil-A about once a month for dinner. We all love it!

A couple of points to note, however:

1. Dipping sauces are almost always handled poorly; we'll either end up with an absolutely excessive amount of them, or have some selections completely absent. Never in-between.
2. The actual quantity of fries received when ordering a "Large" order of fries varies drastically from visit to visit.
3. The ever-changing "public health" edict handed down by the state, unwillingly imposed upon us all has a dramatic effect on the ability to simply navigate the parking lot in a (rather small) vehicle; the queues of vehicles waiting to proceed forth to their preferred destination of food delivery (drive-thru or curbside pickup) become excessively long, spilling out onto the service road, and creates a chaotic environment to navigate through. Additionally, the entrances to the parking lot are not marked; I accidentally entered the "drive-thru" entrance, becoming entrapped, and had to resort to exiting my vehicle to move a traffic cone to proceed to the curbside pickup area of the...
