I am giving Mission a 4 star rating because there are a couple of issues with the brisket. First it was dry on the lean cuts. That may be because they kept it warming for too long or it may have been slightly over cooked. It should have been taken off the smoker an hour or so sooner. With that being said, the flavor of the brisket was real nice. I would prefer pecan smoke or hickory. But that is a personal preference. I should also say I am from Texas so I not only eat a lot of BBQ but I make it often myself. I loved the cheesy potatoes, the baked beans are pretty good, but I am not a fan of BBQ sauce mixed with them. I like them sweet not tart. I know most people don't mind one way or the other, so those people I think with enjoy them. I love that ya'll serve cornbread with your BBQ, I wish every BBQ joint would do that. I have never understood why more of them don't. I liked the sausage it had a good flavor. I would like to make a suggestion though. Instead of cutting them length wise maybe cut them in circles and right before they are served throw them on the flat top and give them a little char. It will give them another texture as well as another level of flavor. It is rare to find BBQ joints that will do that, and it is a shame. It is hard to beat the flavor profile. I really enjoyed the decor of the restaurant. I am a Veteran and appreciate the fact that ya'll care so much for us Vets and first responders. God bless ya'll for that.I know this is long, but I really want Mission to be successful. So I just wanted to give some feed back. I will be back, and enjoyed the customer...
Read moreComing from the food industry, I understand the gut punch when customers walk in 20 minutes before closing.
I would just offer to you that you never know what your customers are going through.
Mission is sacred to me and my kids. We ate many meals together at our local FL Mission. Even though we no longer live near a Mission we still share many great memories.
As we were driving into town from Texas today, I asked my kids if they wanted to go. They expressed they didn't like Illinois Mission's as they were not the same. I convinced them that it was one bad experience.
However, they disappointed once again. Not one member of the team said welcome. The manager, as well as the staff minus the cashier, stood by and glared as my kids and I ordered. Then there was a problem with the register as they were already closed out. I remind you, this was 20 minutes before closing. They promptly made our meal, nit to say enjoy or is there anything weeks we can get you. Again, this is not Mission service. As we ate, the manager and staff refilled the bottles but seemed to ignore the empty bottle we had put at the end of the table for them. And to top it off, as we left, they were all too busy fooling around to hear me and my family thank them. So I said it louder and they stopped to say "Thanks".
I guess my children were correct. This is not the same Mission. Sad I can not give any aspect higher than a 3 star review. I hope this feedback helps to improve your service for...
Read moreAmazing experience really! The bbq was very good and the service was great also. The entire restaurant’s decor pays homage to the armed services and is by far one of the most patriotic restaurants I’ve been to. It kinda reminded me of my trips through Texas which is a very good thing, because I love Texas. My friend and I each ordered the 3 meat sampler which for the most part was very good. The baby back ribs were a bit on the dry side but the other meats and sauces more than made up for it. The cornbread was my least favorite item of the meal I had as it was super dry and tasteless. I also ordered a side of fries with my meal which were very good but not as great as the “Freedom Fries,” that Laurie the manager surprised my friend and I with. My friend didn’t care much for the chit chat and the attention Laurie gave us, I on the other hand loved every minute of it because it shows she cares. She is a warm and inviting manager and they did well in hiring her. One downside my friend and I noticed was the customer atmosphere as soon as we walked in, it was all Caucasian customers and we got stares and a weird vibe from the customers, not sure if it’s because we’re brown but I immediately chose to ignore it. Another hiccup we noticed was as customers left they were offered to leave their trays on the table along with their trash and someone would get it for them, we were not offered that but again I chose to overlook it. Overall it was a pretty...
