I came in at a great time on Friday, it wasn't busy yet. I was quickly given a seat and given my menu. I already knew what I wanted to try, so I was quick with my order. Chawan Mushi, a steamed savory egg custard, and Sukui Tofu. It wasn't until afterwords I realized both foods were soft and creamy, not that I minded.

The tofu came first, as I was warned streaming the custard would take some time. I appreciated the warning, I knew it wouldn't be fast, but the heads up was nice. The tofu was cool, soft, and smooth. It sat in a broth I believe and that gave it a mild savoriness. On top were some green onions, mushrooms, and grated ginger. It was a great start, it didn't fill me up, but was gentle and helped me whet my appetite.

Following that, the egg was quite the opposite. It was hot, from being freshly steamed, and it was cooked with broth being blended into the egg so it had a strong taste from whatever broth they were using. It was so soft that I was worried he would break back into liquid, but it held together the entire time. Apparently it came with chicken, shrimp, and ginkgo nuts. I didn't realize they were there until I was at the bottom, but it was a pleasant surprise to have something to chew on after my meal so far.

If I had one complaint, it would be that I didn't notice any of the nuts in the chawan mushi. Though, the rest of them meal was so good that I didn't mind it, and I may just not have noticed them. After being steamed for so long I imagine they were quite soft.

In conclusion, I'm managed to have an enjoyable meal with nothing but a soup and an appetizer. Next time I come by, I'm going to ready my wallets to get some of the more heavy dishes and some sushi. It's going to take a good bit of holding back to not just stop by next...

I had lunch there yesterday and it was a delight.

The two 2 star reviews are simply rediculous. If you go to a sushi restaurant expecting hot food you are in the wrong restaurant. Go get some Kushiage if you expect some hot meat. The other reviewer ate $22 worth of food then complained about the price. Go to Genji Express in Whole Foods if you want inexpensive sushi.

Now that that is out of the way...

The was simply the best sushi I have had in some time. The bar is stunning and the service was excellent.

Each pice of fish was exquisitely prepared and I appreciate the delicacy of the cuts. The ginger dressing is to die for. The negamaki was beautifully presented and cooked. I had a variety of nigiri, tuna maki, and some salmon avacado rolls.

For the amount of food I ate the price was fair. I do wish since they are open for lunch that there were a few more reasonably priced specials. It doesn't have to be a 3 roll special for $10 but for the quality I would easily pay $15 for 2 rolls.

I will recommend this fine restaurant to anyone.

On a side note: I can't believe Haddonfield is still a dry county! People would go out of their way to come from the city if they could enjoy a Sapporo with their delicious meal. Silly Blue laws.

The blandest and driest sushi I’ve ever had… and I’ve had a lot of sushi.

I am not one to leave poor reviews, but chose to eat here based on the ratings and found them incredibly misleading. Literally ruined our day.

We ordered 2 apps, 2 special rolls and 3 standard rolls… Apps were nothing special and came recommended as popular from the waitress. The lobster rolls were dry and bland… much like the sushi. Only one of the rolls had Spicy Mayo sauce on it so they were all dry and bland… we had to order a side of eel sauce which is what they were missing, but even with that they weren’t anything special. The sweet potato roll came with raw salmon in it which I’ve never seen… it was a weird combo.

While the waitresses were very nice and kept our waters filled, they completely forgot our daughters side of noodles, which were extremely plain and gross for a lack of better words when they did come out late.

The quality of the fish seemed good, but the food overall incredibly lack luster and disappointing especially having spent $100. Not to mention we were the only ones in there on a Saturday afternoon.

We didn’t try any of their entrees which may be the reason for their other positive reviews, but definitely a below...

Arrived for an early dinner at 4pm on a Sunday and was seated right away. Our waitress was attentive and kind. The wooden interior has a nice cozy feel and the restaurant is clean. Food came out lightning fast because no one else was in there at the time. We started with the Kinoko soba soup. 3 Kinds of mushrooms in a delicious dashi broth with soba noodles that were cooked perfectly. We also got the Ebi shumai. The shrimp was fresh and delicious. The shumai was packed with flavor and had a nice texture. Really light and refreshing soup. For entrees we got the J&J roll along with the Dragon roll. The jalapeños in the J&J added a nice kick that was blended nicely with the wasabi mayo. The dragon roll tobiko had a pop of umami and rich texture with the Avocado. The fish within both rolls were fresh. We decided to finish the meal with white tuna sushi. The fish was fresh with a silky mouth feel. None of the sushi here had too much rice which is a great sign. Will be back again to try their other dishes.

Fuji Japanese Cuisine in NJ is an absolute culinary treasure! I visited my friend who lives in NJ and he recommended this place right away. Although it’s located in the back of the Main Street that place had lines of people waiting to get in. Due to last minute call we didn’t have reservation either. But the hostess was kind enough to assist us right away. We waited only for 12 minutes up until the time we were seated. The menu offers a perfect balance of traditional Japanese dishes and innovative creations. Their sushi is incredibly fresh and expertly prepared, with each roll being a work of art. We started with the tuna dumpling and we continued by ordering 8 different rolls. The attention to detail in presentation and taste is outstanding. The staff is warm and attentive. Whether you’re here for a casual dinner, a special celebration, or just craving authentic Japanese cuisine, Fuji never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a great dining experience!
