Hayashi Sushi — Restaurant in Half Moon Bay

First time trying. Really tasty salmon teriyaki entree. However…Fresh crab (more pricey) California rolls were disappointing with minced tasteless “crab”?? Felt like a rip -off gimmick. Likely would have been better to go with imitation crab. (Pity). Also California roll orders are quantity 8 making them a tad small and skinny with hardly any avocado. Better if they made it quantity 6 per order and “beef” up the roll quality. Sushi Monster in Belmont do really excellent Cali rolls. Perhaps this establishment could try such and copy. What a fantastic hole-in-the-wall gem we stumbled upon! We were unfamiliar with the area, and found this place was open when most other sushi places were closed, so off we went. Did not know this was a tiny 12-seat strip mall sushi restaurant, but man... it did NOT disappoint!

Everything we had from the pork gyoza, tempura, teriyaki chicken, to the sushi (chirashi don) was perfect. A+ on the fish; large cuts of very fresh sushi, and perfect sushi rice. All at amazing prices.

If we ever return to Half Moon Bay, we will definitely be going back. I highly...

I found the sushi to be quite average during my visit. When the waitress checked in to see if everything was okay, I mentioned that I wasn't particularly fond of one of the items, but unfortunately, she didn’t seem able to help address my concern at all. As I was leaving, she kindly asked if I wanted to take the leftovers with me, but I decided against it. I hope that in the future, they might focus more on customer feedback.
