This place has great food and the menu is extensive. The service is very good too, with friendly and efficient staff. The parking there is relatively easy, but it can be hard to find a space during weekend mornings. I might also add that the restaurant is very noisy, but it's to be expected at a busy place that gets very crowded.
I've visited Taste Cafe multiple times and it's always been a good experience, until today. Specifically, I and my friend entered with the intent to have a delicious hamburger meal. My friend brought with her a small thermos containing tea. She had no intention of consuming the tea inside the restaurant. The manager informed us that there is a strict rule against bringing any containers into the restaurant, and to be sure we didn't commit some kind of misdeed (my words, not hers) she said she could take it from the table until we were ready to leave. I took that as an insult, as if we could not be trusted. Who knows, maybe they were worried that we might steal some coffee or tea? The prices for Taste Cafe menu items are are acceptable, but they are definitely higher end for a cafe. They also charge a credit card fee which I generally don't like because it seems like it's a way to extract from customers every possible cent. In any event, we left without ordering, having lost our appetite . We felt like the management couldn't trust us and that their policy is petty and...
Read moreI ordered take out from Taste Cafe the morning after arriving into HMB for a weeklong trip in an AirBnb. They were conveniently located in a popular shopping plaza that was easy to find and get to.
I ordered Eggs Benedict and switched ham for avocado since I'm a vegetarian. They they I couldn't do a substitution, but basically had to order no ham and then pay for the upcharge on the avocado. It ended up being very tasty, I liked the english muffin they used and the hollandaise sauce tasted lemony (which I don't mind). The eggs were poached well, and the hash browns I got were crispy. I would recommend it.
My husband got the Chilaquiles which he said were good, but didn't knock his socks off.
I also ordered a chai and latte, which they waited until I was there to make. I appreciated this to make sure the drinks were hot, but it did take some extra time to wait for the drinks.
I could tell this place was a favorite of the locals as the staff knew many people by name as they walked in the door and greeted them warmly. Overall this was a good breakfast spot and I would order from here again next time I'm...
Read moreGrab breakfast here if you’re in Half Moon Bay! My husband and I were in town for Memorial Day weekend and happen to find this gem. It seems to be a locally and family owned…the atmosphere felt like we were home and the food was absolutely delicious!
On the first stop I tried the feta omelette, served with choice of potatoes—I chose the roasted potatoes and sourdough toast. My husband had the all meat omelette with hash browns and sourdough. The omelettes were cooked to perfection with a great mix of texture and flavor. We highly recommend both!
Second visit we both decided on the 2 egg breakfast; over medium for him and scrambled for me, hash browns for both, bacon and sourdough toast. We highly recommend as well!
Our food was fresh and everything was served hot! We were guests at the Ritz Carlton up the road and dined at the Conservatory for breakfast our first morning and chose to come back to this cafe over the Conservatory for the rest of our stay because of the quality of food and family atmosphere.
Thank you for your great food and wonderful...
