The food was OLD and stale tasting. I had ordered the pot roast meal, in which several meat pieces were burned on the edges and too tough were my utensil was unable to separate the pieces. Also, the apperance of the meat was too stringy. Henceforth, I had exchanged that meal for chop steak, in which I had to specify that I wanted my chop steak FRESH. For $10, why not have it FRESH?....if you ask me, the 2nd choice should've been FREE (just for the inconvience). I ordered a side salad and at first I was told that they didn't have any lettuce. Minutes later, the hostess came back saying that she now have lettuce and asked me what type of dressing did I want. Mind you, the salad bowl had more croutons & baby tomotoes than it had lettuce (only a few skimpy little pieces of lettuce. Note: When I had first asked for a FRESHER serving of pot roast, the hostess came back telling me a LIE saying that the cook said that the pot roast meat was cooked fresh daily, not with burnt edges and the meat too tough to separate. I guess the both of them thought that I was BLIND and see through their LIES. Besides, the meat tasted horrendously OLD. On top of it all, the RUDE hostess had the nerve to mouth off to me saying that I did that EVERYTIME.....LIES! First of all, EVERYTIME in the past, I had ONLY ordered pancakes. Why? because Denny's is a breakfast type of restaurant so I knew that they would serve my hot cakes HOT. Henceforth, that was the very FIRST time that I have ever ordered a pot roast meal and it will be my LAST time ordered any dinner meals from there simply because they have a gravy game going on there. What I mean by a "gravy game"?....they take 2 to 3 days old food, then warm it up, then slap fresh gravy and mushrooms over the dish, pretending as if they just made that pot roast fresh. That's very deceptive if you ask me.As for the atmosphere, the music & tv both were playing entirely too loud, I could barely hear my phone conversation, I had to place my call onto speaker just to clearly hear my caller. Lastly, I came in with a walker, which clearly meant that I had difficulty walking but the RUDE hostess / waitress kept saying that I way on the way out, as if she was obviously trying to forcing me to pay than leave but I had to wait for my ride. Henceforth, here little 'reverse psychology" trick ended up causing her table to be occupied must longer because now I was catching on to her little shenanigans. Simply put, I had OUTSMARTED her because had refused to go outside and wait that 90's ÷ degrees weather. In the end, I ended up tipping her $2, not that she deserved it but simply because I have a heart full of empathy (despite all of her RUDENESS)....I DID UNTO HER AS I WOULD'VE WISH BE DONE UNTO ME, if I have been walking in her shoes. Besides, ONLY at Denny's, the hostess be the waitress and the cashier all at ONCE, which simply means that EVERY Denny's tends to be UNDERSTAFFED, thus the culprit for the BAD service and the BAD / OLD food. Hint: The staff probably have nicknamed me the "pancake lady" because the minute that I walk through the door, they say...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this Denny’s location. The waitress who attended our table, Olga P, was extremely rude from the beginning. The very first thing she asked us was where we were from. When she realized we were not originally from the U.S., she spoke to us in Spanish and it became clear that she was trying to take advantage of us because of that.
When we asked for the Everyday Slams/Value Menu, she refused, insisting that it was not available on weekends. We asked for the menu three times before she finally brought it — only after saying she would make an “exception” this time, but with a very negative attitude. It felt as though she deliberately tried to hide the Value Menu from us just because she assumed we were tourists and wanted us to order more expensive items.
When we asked for the bill, Olga P didn’t simply bring it but instead asked what tip we would leave — 18% or 20%. We told her we preferred to leave a custom tip based on the service we received, and she responded in a condescending way, saying, “I don’t know how you do it in your country, but here that’s not how it works.” At that point, I explained to Olga that I live in the United States and that here the tip is not mandatory, but rather an evaluation of the service received — one leaves what is fair based on the quality of service. In other words, I am not a tourist.
Denny’s is a well-known American restaurant chain, often chosen by tourists because of its reputation for affordability and friendliness. Actions like those of Olga not only damage that reputation, but also push visitors who come on vacation to choose the competition instead.
This treatment was discriminatory and unacceptable. We ended up paying at the front and left the tip we felt was fair given the poor service. We hope management takes action to ensure all customers, regardless of where they are from, are treated with respect...
Read moreAh, Denny's at the crossroads of Hallandale Beach Boulevard and I-95—the true north of comfort food, sure, but also the magnetic pole of extraordinary service. And at the epicenter of it all? Tia. If this Denny’s were a Broadway show, Tia would be its undisputed star, deserving of every standing ovation.
From the moment you enter, Tia’s infectious smile operates like a lighthouse in the fog of your morning grogginess or late-night cravings. It's a beacon signaling, "Good vibes and great food ahead." She doesn’t just take your order; she takes stock of your mood, your needs, your unspoken desire for that extra dollop of whipped cream on your pancakes.
Let's talk professionalism. Tia doesn't just set the bar; she is the bar. Each coffee pour is like a ballet, each order delivered with the precision of a Swiss watchmaker. If there were a Nobel Prize for Waitressing, Tia would be its first recipient. She’s the linchpin that turns a visit to Denny's from routine to remarkable.
Her focus on customer satisfaction is nothing short of a mission. Tia treats every diner as if they’re the most important VIP to ever grace the vinyl booths of this establishment. In Tia’s care, you don’t just dine; you experience a master class in the art of hospitality.
In summary, Tia elevates Denny’s from a pit stop on the culinary highway to a destination in itself. If TripAdvisor had a "Tia" category, she’d be a solid 5 out of 5, year after year. Yes, Denny's offers the hearty food we all know and love, but Tia serves up something even more special: a sense of home, a touch of class, and a heap of human kindness. Would recommend, will return, and am seriously considering starting a...
