Located on West Hallandale Beach Blvd., Wonton Garden is a small Chinese restaurant with limited parking that offers dine-in, take-out, and delivery. The inside of the restaurant looks a bit plain and isn't adorned with alluring oriental décor, but there are a few wooden table seating for the customers and one flat screen TV on the wall. Wonton Garden offers a variety of dishes all under $20, for the exception of the family pack and party tray meals which ranges from $22.95 and up, such as soups, appetizers, sides, fried rice, lo mein, cow mein or chop suey, sweet & sour, egg foo young, vegetarian, entrees, chef's special, and lunch & dinner combos. As I entered the restaurant, I rapidly looked at their menu on the counter then I gave my order of the shrimp lo mein lunch special to one of the male employees behind the counter. The lunch special included my choice of soup, egg roll, or can soda (I chose an egg roll) and white rice or pork fried rice (I chose pork fried rice). The wait time was between 5-7 minutes and the aroma from the container as the man handed me my food was enticing. As I sat in my vehicle, I quickly ate the egg roll which was hot and crunchy on the outside with tender veggies on the inside, and it was not oily. The pork fried rice and shrimp lo mein was prepared nicely and tasted fresh...meaning the food had no taste of salt in it. It wasn't a problem to me, I just used the packets of soy and duck sauce for added flavor.
Though the outside/inside of the restaurant isn't captivating to the eyes, the prices aren't bad for the quantity of food given. If I don't feel like driving far for Chinese food, I'll get my favorite...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. The first time I went, I stood in front of the young male cashier for ten minutes while he down talked someone on the phone without him even taking into consideration that I'm trying to place an order...I walked out. I decided to try again today because I didn't feel like grocery shopping, even though the sign said eat in or take out all the chairs were placed upside down on the table and I could see through the window the same young man was on the phone walking amidst the tables. They were more attentive this time a young woman came and took my order. Five minutes later she returned with half a handful of rice and inch wide green peppers and onions both under cooked and tough brown meat that may or may not have resembled beef. The meet was tough and chewy, there was no flavor. I went home took a bite and retired the rest to a Tupperware bowl for when I was absolutely starving and had no other choice. I would have been better off with my canned beef stew and home cooked rice. Absolutely horrible. $6 wasted or some juice and crackers...
Read moreI've been ordering from Wonton Garden for years, bc food is pretty good and delivery is pretty fast. But the price always seemed to be more than I expected. For example: 5pc bbq ribs is $8.49 on the website menu, but they charged $12.20. Pepper steak $8.49 on menu, they charged $11.20. Their excuse was website prices are 5 years old. I explained it's their responsibility to update their website, not mine. Next excuse was those menu prices were put on their website by customers!! Lol. So instead of taking responsibility for their own mistakes, they insisted I pay the higher prices. This is NOT the way to do business! They would rather lose a LONG time customer than admit a mistake. Fine. They got what they wanted. I won't EVER spend another penny on them. Too many other Chinese restaurants nearby to spend my money with, who know how to update a website, who have integrity, and respect for a long time customer. I'm gonna make a complaint to BBB. So beware. And always double check what ur being charged. Bye bye Wonton Garden. Good luck staying...
