I live about 3 blocks from Putters and it has become our staple for great bar food since we moved in 4 years ago. At first we absolutely loved Putters, we'd take visitors there or get their chicken wings (boneless) on a whim on a saturday night. I have kids and they absolutely loved the options. Then a weird thing happened and Putters changed up their menu and got rid of most of the things we loved. They still had the wings but they got rid of their pretzels, their flatbreads and a ton of other choices. Our time going to Putters was drastically cut back.
Then, they up and changed their menu and brought back many of the things they took out (I'm guessing because customers complained) and while they didn't bring back everything, they brought back a lot of the staples and even made them better.
If you are going to Putters their boneless wings are pretty spot on. They have a ton of sauces you can pick to go with them and they are quite a good size. (their small is a lot of food). My favorite thing on their menu is their sausage corn chowder. It took me a while to try it because really, it just sounds weird. But it has become the one item that I will always get, even if it's just a cup, every time I go. The mix of sausage, corn, potato and whatever cream type liquid they use is AMAZING!
Another great way to start your meal is with their pretzel sticks and queso. I'm a stickler for a good pretzel and the pretzels Putters serve are top notch. They are thick pretzel sticks that get a nice crispy texture on the outside and super soft on the inside. The queso goes with it perfectly and it's a hit with my entire family. While they did remove my favorite flatbread (the buffalo chicken) they have other items that make up for it. Also, my wife tried the chili cheese fries last night and she thought the chili was a bit sweeter and wasn't a huge fan, but she also doesn't like Goldstar/Skyline so maybe she has bigger issues than just this!
Putters also has live music with quite a few different genres. We never typically look at the upcoming bands list but we haven't been disappointed with the ones they have. Last night when we went they had a pair (a man and a woman) singing songs with just an acoustic guitar and they sounded really good.
Putters also has their stage serving as a mini putting green. It's a small touch but it comes in handy when you have hangry kids waiting on their food.
All in all, Putters is a fantastic place. The beer selection is wonderful, the prices are great, the food is spot on and the wait staff is super friendly. Just keep an eye on their menu because it does change a few times a...
Read moreNo, It is not. Unless you remind your waiter and then complain when you get your check and feel like a jerk. I have been there 5x for kids eat free mondays this year. Nothing was right on the bill during any visit. Putters has gone downhill hard in the last year. Once I showed up and was seated 45 minutes prior to grill closing (just wanted nachos and a beer) and literally had a server come up and say "are you expecting service? Because the grill closes in 45 minutes and we have too many orders to serve you"....Wow.....Yea, I expect service if I am seated by your staff....Why seat me and waste my time and say "are you expecting service?"...your servers are excellent at customer service!!!! Great, this place is amazing. I also had to ask for a happy hour menu which wasn't available unless I was aware and asked for it, otherwise full price. Obviously profits are being put ahead of customers lately. Pretty much what I have been hearing around town. Explains the overserving customers and investigation. Do you actually think cutting beers to Pints only is going to fix your problems? How about care about your patrons instead of screwing them on the bill or overserving them? Good thing Shooters is opening, all my neighbors that swore off Putters will finally have somewhere to go nearby. Enjoy overcharging me tonight, I am not going to complain to my server again, consider it a...
Read moreOur recent visit to putters was disappointing for two reasons. First they nickel and dimed our bill whenever possible. I upgraded from Saratoga chips to fries for $1.25 and was disappointed with the small portion I was given. Also one of the friends I was dinning with requested a second cup of ranch for her wings, when she got her bill she was charged $0.59 for the additional small cup of ranch. Second the service was sub par. We had to flag down the waitress every time we needed a refill on our drinks, and she rushed us after we finished eating. She brought out our checks without asking us, before we finished eating, and did not ask anyone if they wanted additional beverages. After she brought us our credit card receipts we stayed watching the game and socializing for 30-40 minutes. In that time she never came to clear a single plate, ask us if we needed anything, or pick up or signed receipts. We thought she was in a hurry to leave but noticed before we left she seated another table and took their order. Also the restaurant was not busy, it wasn’t like they needed our table to seat a new party. This is not the first time the service was lacking, we will think twice before...
