I donโt typically write reviews, but this place is worth my time and effort. My wife and I enjoy Indian cooking, and we were eager to try Saffron, a locally grown option. Iโve had the fortunate opportunity to talk with the owner, Manny, numerous times, and his story makes the food even more memorable. Iโve also had the chance to engage with the staff, and everyone has been kind and welcoming and a beautiful part of the restaurantโs composition.
Manny once shared a bit of his story with me, so I figured I would share with anyone who may care to know. He and his brother, Simar (who you might also meet at the restaurant), come from a family of farmers in North India, and the food at Saffron stays true to what their family cooked back home. You can tell right away that Saffronโs recipes come from tradition and heart. Manny is sincerely committed to making food that satisfies and it shows, as he also doubles as chef.
Iโve seen some older reviews mentioning mixed experiences, but I assure you, like any small business and local favorite, Saffron has grown through its ups and downs. What stands out now is Mannyโs clear commitment to making it a healthy, lasting part of the community. Thereโs a patience in how he cooks that you can taste. Nothing is rushed and everything is balanced and real.
Food:
My personal favorite is the Saag. Iโve had it with paneer, mushrooms, even salmon. From what I understand, itโs slow-cooked for a long, undisclosed time, exactly how his family designed it. Iโve tried saag all over the city, and Saffronโs is hands-down my favorite โ rich, layered, and comforting.
The garlic naan is the perfect sidekick. Itโs crispy and soft at the same time, with a texture that folds without splitting but still has that hint of crispness that makes every bite dynamic. Itโs warm, aromatic, and absolutely perfect for scooping up every last bit of that saag.
And donโt sleep on the Thumbs Up! Cola โ it reminds me of the American classic RC, but with personality. It just fits.
Staff/Atmosphere:
Mannyโs a genuinely kind and easygoing guy, always smiling and full of warmth. If you get the chance to talk with him, youโll see why everyone likes him.
His team is just as welcoming โ Sara and the front-of-house crew always make you feel at home, and JD, who you might not often see because heโs busy in the kitchen, brings a contagious, positive energy when you do meet him.
The environment is often quiet, with low volume, balanced conversations around the space. I know they donโt presently serve alcohol but once they start, I could easily see it becoming an evening social spot.
Pricing:
And as for the reviews commenting about pricing โ come on. If I donโt go full glutton the night of, Iโve got an adequate portion left over for lunch the next day. That works out to about $12โ$15 per meal, which is more than fair. Good luck finding โhomeโ cooking at that price without paying a premium these days.
Anyway, if you couldnโt tell, Iโm truly glad to have Saffron in our community. But donโt take my word for it. Go try the saag and...
ย ย ย Read moreOur family came for dinner and ordered some different dishes. My parents are not good with (hot) spicy food so they ordered level 1 spicy and it was perfect for them. My husband and I like it hotter so we ordered 3&4 but next time we will order 6 because we noticed the food came very mild. It was still very delicious we just recommend to order some green chilies and onions to give some heat ๐ฅ. ๐ We will FOR SURE be back and bring many friends. The service was very nice we had two servers who came to us for all of our needs and explained menu items and any questions we had. They were both very nice. The menu is pretty large with many vegetarian options. I personally ordered paneer makhani and it was so tender and creamy. My family got some chicken and shrimp dishes and again, the chicken so tender and the gravies for everything were plentiful and flavorful! Also 1 order will feed 2 people!! You get SO MUCH FOOD for 1 order. We all had to eat half and take home the qother half. ๐ One of the best items would be their tandoori roti and naan (many flavors we got an onion and a garlic naan along with a plain naan and a roti and all were delicious!!) They have some nice dessert options as well. The set up of the restaurant is AMAZING it's a great hang out spot with an upper level, lower level and outdoor seating! It's very beautifully designed and I can just tell it's going to be an amazing spot for families of all types to come and enjoy. Thanks so much...
ย ย ย Read moreMy wife and I had ordered carry-out a while back and had a disappointing experience, which led me to originally leave a two-star review. To summarize, there were some communication issues and online menu issues (which have since been resolved) and I thought I would be charged less than I was, as well as was disappointed in the quality of the food.
As a result of my original review, the owner emailed me and apologized for the experience we had and offered a free meal to my wife and me. We took the owner up on the offer and ate at the restaurant for lunch today. We ordered chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. The server went out of her way to make sure everything was good and even brought out an extra order of roti as well as a dessert at the end of the meal. The food quality was better during this visit as well.
Thank you to the owner, server, and kitchen staff for a free meal, excellent service, and good food! The fact that they are willing to do this seems to show that they are a small business that really care about their customers. My wife and I greatly appeciate it and would recommend others give this...
