So I don't live too far from this place and they have 2 locations in Suffolk. Well another girlfriend of mine (see previous post of a friends recommendation) said the food was good in the Suffolk location so I said ok I'll try it. I should likely insert my parents live in San Diego Ca. So I am there like 2-3 times a year and the have a place that I love and I compare all Mexican food to. Well the hubby and I got to La Paparrilla a little after 7pm on a Wednesday night. Nice crowd. No wait time and we were seated immediately. So we got the customary salsa & chips. I ordered Queso (cheese sauce) and a margarita. The drinks and cheese came pretty quick. First thing I noticed was they somehow served me cold cheese dip. I know that sounds crazy because On would think that cheese would thicken if it was cold but this cheese was in fact "saucy" and luke warm at best. I will say this though, the large margarita is LARGE but at $9.99 I wished it tasted more like liquor and less like store bought margarita. So anyway, the hubby and I both order. He orders shrimp & rice and I order filet de pescado. I asked the waitress what comes with the meal she said "rice with vegetables mixed in" I said ok let me h are that and a side of black beans with extra cheese. All is well right? Nope!! About 13 minutes a guy brings our food to us. I look at my plate and it's dried looking broccoli and cauliflower with what I assume is a piece of fish drowning in that same white cheesy sauce I had earlier. He also places a huge plate of black beans with NO cheese anywhere is sight. So apparently they decided to drown my fish in cheese and when I had a look on my face like "what is this food Harpo" (sorry color purple reference) the guy says what is wrong. I proceed to explain to him none of this is what I ordered and I told him my actual order. He just kind of stared for a second and says "hold on" and walks away. My waitress comes back and asked what's wrong with the food? I told her "this isn't what I asked for, you said this came with rice, where is the rice and why has my fish been drowned in cheese sauce?" She looks at me and says "you asked for extra cheese". I looked back at her and said "I did, on my beans". I asked for a menu so I could find something to eat. No menu appears but another man does. He asks me what the problem is. I explain it to him and he says, ohh hold on I'll get a manager. WHAT IN THE WORLD?!? Well who are you strange man? It was like the commercial where the guy is robbing the bank and the people on the floor are like your a security guard so something and he like I'm not a guard, I just warn you if the bank is robbed, the bank is being robbed. Like who is this dude questioning me about my issues who has no control over it. I digress, so the manager comes over and I recognize him. I am like "hey did you used to work at a Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg? He's like yeah, I said I remember you. I used to work in a jewelry store that he frequented and a co-worker and I used to go there. Anyway I explain to him what's going on and I tell him you know I asked for a Menu so I could order something else and no one wants to bring me one. He's like "ohh I'm sorry how about I bring you what you ordered the way you want it?" I agreed and we once again wait. Meanwhile the hubby is eating away at his shrimp and rice. I did taste it and it was good. But honestly at that point I was so hungry I wouldn't be able to properly access if it was good because it was seasoned and cooked well or if I was just starving. A few minutes later another gentleman walks up and has my food. So they brought me what I asked for. There was no drowning fish on my plate but instead a dried up piece of white meat that I assumed was fish. Again at this point I am starving so I'm like hell WTH I'll try it. Well, ohh I should likely mention I'm sitting in outback right now writing this review. The fish (what I honk was fish) was dry and seasonless. (Yeah I made up a word, seasonless sounded better in my head than bland at the moment). I'd...
Read moreWe decided to visit one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in Hampton, which was this one. On line it stated they didn’t close until 10:30, we walked through their door at 9:37. When we set down, someone brought us some table chips and dip for the tab as we took our seat, then a waiter walked up to us before we could put our belongs in the seat and asked what drinks and food would we like. His name was Jesus. When I saw it in the English translation, I knew I was going to have a nice meaI asked him could you get the drinks first then we will determine what food we wanted. He said no problem mam. I then asked him could he bring me one of the special drinks the small one and he said sure mam but brought the medium one instead, he failed to ask if I wanted sugar or salt on the rim of the glass so I guess he assumed I wouldn’t mind the regular; which was salt. I’m not for given no one a hard time so I decided to whip the salt of the rim of my glass instead of having them to do. Then the waiter stayed there and said to me mam we close at 10:15 so I’ll need your orders if you’re ready. It was then 9:47 at the time. I informed him that the website stated 10:30 and we need at least a min to view them. He said ok but stood there u til we did, we did feel a bit rushed. However after we gave him the orders and they returned with the food. I ordered the beef quesadillas one with rice and one with beans on the side. When we started eating the food. I didn’t agree with the taste or appearance and I informed the waiter that it didn’t lol like the picture, in the beans were in the inside of both and the beef was drowned in sauce which are the toasted tortilla wet. It was more like a beef stew quesadilla. Instead of him provided good customer service such as apologizing about my concern and attempt g to correct my order, he decided to inform me that it’s just a picture and that was what I ordered. I then asked him if they had something a grilled steak and onion and cheese quesadillas instead. He said I will bring you that but it will be a dollar extra, I said ok. , but felt he shouldn’t have asked for that since my order was already messed up. Then he brought me my tab and didn’t say thank you at all. I looked at my tab and realized he charged me for the medium specialty drink I start of the small one. I then inform him, he snatches the drink off my tab and charge me for the small one Instead and didn’t bring anything back. I then inform him that’s not good customer service. He takes the tab and remove the drink from it. By then less than 10 mins later my appetite was spoiled from his bad customer service. I then asked for two boxes from another waiter because I saw him prepping to clean up for the night, he had just brought the mop bucket out and was wiping down tables. He then went behind Ona side of a cart and brought two boxes over then proceeded to take my nearly prepared, u eaten food to put in the to go containers. I stopped him and said, please do not do that. I will take care of packing my own food because you just touch that mop bucket and cleaned the nasty tables from others eating and that is very unsanitary . He never said thank you not once so he blew his tip and decided to provide bad service so he could go home on time. Worst derive I have ever had at a Mexican place and the food was not good at...
Read moreMy husband and I will not be returning here we ordered our food and weren’t asked if we wanted flour or corn tortillas and when we got our food we got flour and I asked is there corn tortillas ? and our waiter said they’re out of corn tortillas, they’re suppose to ask which you’d prefer our waiter failed to acknowledge to us about them being out of corn tortillas my husband had carne Asada he kept running out of tortillas in order to eat his meal he had to wait around for our server to check on us in order for him to get more tortillas , but most authentic Mexican restaurants have corn tortillas and will serve with corn 9 times out of 10 unless you tell them otherwise .. I asked for 3 steak tacos American style I got my taco with meat and tortilla no toppings I also asked for rice and beans for my meal and I was told either rice or beans and I said both … because Mexican restaurants usually serve both its tradition!! …. What I’m upset about the most is as I was eating my beans i chewed on something very hard I took it out of my mouth it was a freakin little pebble rock at first I was thinking wait maybe it’s a bean to give them the benefit of doubt , but no it wasn’t I looked at it and it had a little sparkle to it and I even dropped it on the table and it sounded like a rock and my husband even confirmed it was I told my waiter about it and he told his manager and instead of his manager coming over to see what was going on he just told his waiter that it’s a bean that didn’t get processed probably .. like how are you going to tell somebody what is was ?! When you didn’t even come and look at it and they done nothing for the inconvenience I didn’t even want to finish my food I lost my appetite how does a pebble get into beans ???!!! I’ve had way better authentic Mexican food and much better service for more reasonable pricing I didn’t like the atmosphere either it doesn’t look good seeing waiters chillin in the booths near us just hanging out and snacking in the kitchen doorway I’m very dissatisfied you will not be getting our service ever again you guys do not deserve a high rating that it displays online ! Go spend your...
