Update: I appreciate the way the owner is doing business so I went back to give them a second chance. I chatted with the staff for a bit to understand their tea brewing process. They have canisters of classic tea types- namely black, green, and Thai - that have been steeped for a while, creating that strong aromatic tea flavor. However, their speciality teas are brewed to order. When the tea is brewed to order, it’s hard to fully extract the tea flavor in a short amount of time, resulting in a somewhat watery drink. The oolong tea I order last time was one of those specialty teas, which explains why it wasn’t up to my expectation. It’d be nice for all tea types to be brewed in advance in those canisters, but as Komma started not too long ago, I can understand the trade off here as they don’t have enough space and/or demand so far.
Keeping that in mind, I asked for a Thai milk tea instead this time and it was perfect. It has a strong tea flavor that’s balanced with the sweetness of the heavy cream. Honey boba is, just like last time, sweet and chewy. I don’t have anything but positive things to say about this drink. For future reference, I would recommend ordering a drink that’s based off one of those classic tea types and allowing Komma some more time to work out their speciality teas.
Original response: I ordered an oolong milk tea and unfortunately faced the same issue others have faced- a watered down drink. Customer service was great and the boba was chewy and sweet, just like how they should be. However, the tea itself was disappointing. Upon receiving the drink I instantly knew it was off by looking at the color. Tasted it and it was indeed bland. The tea flavor wasn’t strong enough. I hope they can improve on the tea base...
Read moreOrdered 2 Oolong milk teas, one with Coconut milk, another with regular milk, no boba. It was so horrible, idk what type of Coconut milk was used, perhaps water? Both teas tasted pretty bad, but the one with Coconut milk was just water and sugar. I cannot believe how much they charge for these drinks to taste this bad. In the picture you can see the one with Coconut milk, we ended up drinking them just so we didn’t feel like we wasted our money. I just don’t understand how these places charge this much and they just rip off the customers. Especially charging an additional $1.00 for Coconut milk I didn’t get.
Edit: Management refund me after this review. That deserves credit...
Read moreWe used to go to the boba shop in the food court but recently started coming to this shop more often. I really liked that we got to choose milk alternatives and how there were a wider variety with better instructions to get an understanding of what each drink contained. There were also more topping options and I personally loved the sweet snow. They also serve macarons which were a good snack to grab before shopping!! Overall great service and we will definitely continue to come to Komma tea!! (We got the strawberry smoothie+sweet snow and a Rose from heaven+Lychee Jelly. Both very refreshing. 10/10 would...
