Wood Grill Buffet — Restaurant in Harrisonburg

We had a 3p reservation on 3.30.2024 for approx. 30 people to celebrate my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary, my Father's bornday on 3.29.2024 and my mother's on 4.01.2024.

My family of 8 ran into accidents and traffic on 95 and then on 295 which caused us to be late. By time we arrived, the rest of our party was there. As soon as we barely sat down to finish our first plate, a rude server came in and told us we had 10 minutes to finish up by 5p and make room for the next party who reserved tbe room. Apparently we only had a 2 hour window to eat, socialize, enjoy and honor our parents. Even if that is their policy, the server was rue, flat, cold, and apathetic which killed the mood and vibe, caused us to rush everything, and while the manager attempted to be as solution-focused as he could be, the occasion and experience was completely ruined.

The manager was willing and able to move my family of 8 and two other family members to an other area and table, but my parents and the other 20 in our party had to leave. Even with us having our own table it defeated the whole purpose of being able to be there to honor my parents and to break bread & bond with family TOGETHER. My daughter even drove 4 hours from law school only to be forced out as we opted to pile everything into To Go trays and meet up at a local park outside and wait for a brief rain shower to pass in order to have some sort of time together.

The manager gave me a discount which I am grateful for, however, we will not be returning ever again! This was after having our parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary there and now this ruined 60th.

One of my family's favorite restaurants but that could be changing unfortunately. We have noticed the quality declining the last few times we've gone. They pile the food, hot or cold over 5-7 inches above the serving container which doesn't keep the cold food cold and the hot food gets dried out from the heat lamp. When this was mentioned to the manager his reasoning was that they want the food to look full for the customers. I'd rather have food served at the correct temperature than worry about whether the bowl looks full or not. Not to mention too much food increases its time on the bar and by law has to be replaced after a certain amount of time. It seems like they are just trying to avoid having to change the pans out as often as they should.

Additionally, there were about 20-30 cooked steaks on the grill bar and as I was selecting one I noticed a very long, thick, curly black hair tangled up in a lot of the steaks. I pointed it out to the cook who pulled out the hair, laughed, removed the top 4 steaks, and left the rest. The hair was obviously deeper down and had been all over a lot more steaks than four. He didn't want to have to waste food or have to cook more. I didn't have steak that night.

The dessert bar has also gone down quite a bit as well. Dunno why they have a bakery, all the pies and cakes are no bake or thaw-n-serve. They even stopped displaying the cookies instead now leave them stuck to the wax paper and baking pan they were cooked on.

My wife and I recently stopped at Wood Grill Buffet while visiting Massanutten, and we were blown away by the incredible dining experience we had. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat.

The selection of food was absolutely incredible. There were so many different options to choose from, and each dish looked more delicious than the last. The meats were cooked to perfection, the vegetables were fresh and flavorful, and the desserts were amazing.

The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They were constantly refilling our drinks and checking to see if we needed anything else.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. We felt comfortable and relaxed throughout our entire meal, which made for a truly enjoyable experience.

The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. We felt like we were getting great value for our money, and we left feeling completely satisfied.

Overall, we would highly recommend Wood Grill Buffet to anyone looking for an incredible dining experience. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We can't wait to go back the next time we're in...
