Updated review. Top 5 worst food poisonings of my life - and I’m 38 so that’s saying something serious. I hear from another friend they also got food poisoning here too. We both suspect it’s the miso soup, though the same spoiled smell I also smelled on the friend rice and just tried to drown it with the spicy mayo. Big mistake. See the photo below as a warning. One (or two) of those caused three days of near hospitalization pain and digestive recovery - not a joke. However, I hear the move is take-out sushi. Your call. Service was very friendly and ambience is good for what it is.

This is a take out sushi place. If you're getting sushi to go you'll prolly really enjoy it. Unfortunately I got teriyaki tofu to eat in the restaurant. The tables were sticky. Everything was served in plastic or on Styrofoam. I cannot remember the last time I sat in a restaurant to have my food served to me on a Styrofoam plate. I've been eating tofu weekly for 5 years now. I've never eaten tofu that was that similar to jello in its consistency. And most of the food served to me had prolly seen a microwave. My wife loved her sushi and plans to order that again.

I came in exactly at opening, and despite it already being busy with pickups and calls coming thru, the man at the front accommodated us immediately. Our food came out to the table as quick as can be, and it was beyond amazing. Out of all of the sushi places in harrisonburg, this one has to be the most fresh and fulfilling. There’s also a wide range of condiments you can choose from as well. Thank you for the amazing experience and friendly service! I can’t wait to come back and try all of the different rolls.

I was up at JMU for a conference and wanted something light for dinner. I decided to dine in at Mr. Sato Express. The food was so yummy, I stopped again today to get some sushi to bring home--take out, and drive it 2 hours home. It survived and was just as delicious.

The menu is decent sized and has a lot of classic sushi and rolls, but the chef's special rolls are absolutely delicious. I got the Crazy Spicy Tuna both times I visited--it's not that crazy, but it has some tempura crunch happening which is unexpected and was really good. I also tried the Snow White Roll--really good again!

So my scores: Food - 5/5, delicious. Classics and some unique rolls, too. Also, they have the sushi burrito which is just fun if you want to try it.

Service - 5/5, great! Very friendly and fast service.

Atmosphere - 4/5, pretty decent. It's a bit strange that there is an Italian landscape painted on the wall, but also who cares? The place was clean and quiet, but not creepy quiet. It doesn't have any stereotypical Asian restaurant decor. I also got the vibes it's more of a take-out place, but they're cool with you hanging out. So they don't seem to really be trying to be some fancy place and that's fine.

I don't know if this is a chain, but it definitely is a little gem right next to JMU. I will definitely stop there again the next time I'm...

If I could give this place a zero star rating I really would. This food was great, don't get me wrong but the service was HORRIBLE. First off, we told the waiter what exactly we wanted, described it to a T. We asked for a sushi roll with salmon, cream cheese, and avocado the waiter said, "Oh right, that's the Philadelphia roll." I replied with okay, great get us two of those. After waiting an hour for our food, the waiter came back with a roll that had salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese. My husband and I were starving so I had eaten mine partially, told the waiter, he took it back, and we asked that we not have smoked salmon on it, just the regular salmon. He said okay, came back 20 minutes later with a roll that had smoked salmon on it.. So we told him and he had yet another made. After this, I decided to just eat my roll and leave. I asked for my check and was told I would recieve a refund for the rolls that were wrong, after receiving the check I noticed that we were charged for the two rolls instead of just the one my sister had eaten. I asked to speak with a manager, after dealing with his rude attitude we decided just to pay for the check and leave. I will NOT be returning to...
