Immediately upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a very rude worker. She just had an attitude and didn't seem to have any customer service skills. Thankfully our waitress was much better! The food was subpar. I had a enchilada and it tasted like something from Taco Bell rather than something from a sit down Mexican restaurant. They also have a weird way of doing service. First you have to sign a piece of paper outside with your name and the amount of people in your party rather than speaking to a person. And if you don't see the sign because you came down the opposite side of the street from which it's facing like we did, then you might end up with the rude service we received. The second weird thing about their service is any time you need your server for anything, you have to raise a flag. It's not like usual restaurants where your waiter/waitress comes and checks on you every so often, you literally have to flag them down. I don't see myself going back. Btw, if you order chips and salsa, make sure to ask what kind of salsa options they have. My wife doesn't like super spicy food and they brought us green chile salsa when they had a mild...

Ordered food from here today and service is terrible, especially the owner/manager. The owner/manager threw our change right on the counter top rudely. Then my husband ordered chips & salsa, didn’t give him salsa with it, so he had to go back and get it. It gets even worse after this, so my husband was finishing his chips and finds a bug in the bottom of the salsa box, the bug was old and seemed it was there for a while. When my husband went back and complained they were very rude to him and didn’t want to offer any explanation or care. The manager told the girl who took our order to give my husband a refund and get him the f**k outta the store. My husband was pretty upset that an owner/manager would talk to a customer like that. Then to make matters even more worse 2 guys came out from the back probably her husband & son and told my husband he needs to leave before they call the cops on him. Mind you my husband didn’t do nothing wrong. We simply just ordered food that wasn’t worth it. So please DO NOT GO THERE unless you want poor service and bugs in your food. If I could give this place no...

Place definitely depends on tourists, none of the locals have ever suggested this place. But because I was desperate for some sort of Mexican food this is the closest it comes to. The red salsa is good nice and has a good spice to it. Which is what kept me coming back. Tried to visit a 3rd time place was closed yet google said they were open. Then today we had to wait nearly 40 minutes for a table only to find out the waiter seated other groups of 2 before us….We finally get a table I enjoy my chips and salsa but will never come back to dine in…isn’t worth the wait especially when they only have 2 waiters for about 10-12 tables….guess an employee quit or was sick or owner doesn’t want to hire another waitress/waiter…whatever the reason I don’t care bad service makes me never want to dine here again absolutely NOT WORTH GOING MORE THAN ONCE. Because if you do want to go back they might be randomly closed or make you wait for your table, forget they had you waiting and seat 3 or more people before you. With all that said totally ruins the mood of wanting to eat here...

Omg, we have eaten here many times and we stopped because a year or 2 we had a bad meal. The server let us know that isn't the case anymore. She was right! Wow, the food was fantastic! In Hawaii all rice needs to be sticky, and this rice did not disappoint. Beans were homemade and fresh. I had the chicken burrito, was fantastic. I don't remember what my hubby had and the photo is blurry. Chips and salsa aren't free here but who cares, if someone is going to grumble about 2 bucks they shouldn't eat out. The green salsa has a lot if heat, so if you don't like heat don't get it. We love it. The place was packed so obviously word is out the food is back on track. Margaritas were flowing freely and they must be good with the amount making it out to the tables. The decorations are cute and cheesy, same as they always have. You put a flag up when you need help, the little flags were on the table. Someone always quickly arrived. Definitely glad to have Reuben's back in our restaurant rotation. Omg was delicious, hadn't had good Mexican food for quite a long time.

Excellent tasty Mexican food, excellent service. I usually get things that the (also excellent) local food trucks don't offer, like Tamales and Chile Rellenos, and the beans and rice are addictively excellent as well. We've been coming here since the early 90's, the food is still excellent though the menu size has reduced from many pages down to one sheet, but they still offer my favorites and a good variety. It's not surprising that Hawaii has great Mexican food, the Vaqueros started arriving in large groups in the 1830's to help the cattle industry ramp up on the Big Island, and many people from Mexico enjoy our similar climate, so there are many good Mexican influences in Hawaii. Enjoy this one!

I wanted to like this place, and got excited from the reviews, but was really disappointed in the chicken enchiladas that I got. The sauce was not authentic Mexican at all. It was off…bland, and had oregano sprinkled on top? The rice was clumpy and had no flavor, definitely not like any authentic Mexican rice I’ve ever had. And the beans were dry with no flavor. Also, and I think my least favorite part…the enchiladas were made with flour tortillas. This made a really gummy and gross texture in the mouth. Enchiladas are generally made with corn tortillas. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The shredded chicken was alright, so Im giving 2 stars. Im sad I spent $15 on something I couldn’t even finish.
