Willie's Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Hawaii

There is a saying: "The dead receive more flowers than the living, because regret is more powerful than gratitude..."

Now you may wonder, why? Why does he liken this quote to a fried chicken joint... Well my curious friend, I say to you: Do you often talk to yourself?

But that is besides the point.

Not long ago, I was with a few dear friends, and as the day went on, our spirits began to wane. Noticing this, one friend asks:

"Did you guys eat yet?" As she looks to the clouds with a slight glistening on her ruddy complexion from the fading sunscreen she applied earlier in the day...

"Not since early this morning" I replied.

"Have you been to Willie's Hot Chicken?" Another friend asks, with sweat beading down his temples, for we had a long day out, but he still carried on with a cheerful grin.

"Not for a long time, My first experience wasn't ideal, I didn't really care for what I had, but I suppose I could give it another shot!" I say.

So we pack up our things and jump into my Black 2021 Tesla Model Y Long Range which was still holding, roughly a 78% charge, and embark on a journey towards the location that, at the time, I didn't know was going to change my life forever.

As we approach the register, we are greeted by the kind cashier, the cashier takes our order, and I ask my tall friend along with his wife:

"What heat level do you prefer?"

"Sweet Hawaiian is just about all we can handle" they claim.

"Nashville hot for me!" My red-haired friend adds.

"I'll go with White Hot" I say, "3-Piece Tenders and Ranch"

When the order arrives to our table, I am greeted with the fantastic aroma of spices, brown sugar, oil, and vinegar from the pickles.

I grab my utensils and slice a piece, about 1/2" ³ in diameter. As I take my first bite, suddenly a certain intense feeling of joie de vivre hits me as memories begin to flood, old and new ones, making a lasting imprint in my brain, synapses firing rapidly and the feeling of dopamine from the capsaicin causing strong emotional reactions... This moment, ultimately ending with one feeling.

Regret.

Not for what I am doing at this moment, but for what I had missed out on all this time...

So much time, time I could have been spending enjoying the beautifully piquant morsels of fried perfection.

Time that I feel was wasted.

But through the years, one may learn that you may have regrets, everyone has regrets, but its safer never to dwell on them, it is more important to focus on what you can do NOW...

Regret may be more powerful than gratitude at times, but it takes a powerful person to realize how important today is.

This is my experience not what their standard for service is, my wife and I ordered 2 kids meals comes with 2 tenders, fries and a drink ($11 each), chicken sandwich one side ($18) and a tenders meal 3x tenders, one side ($18) a separate drink for 3.50 NOW the kids meals are the same as a regular meal tender just 2 tenders 1 side and a small drink. Sooo this was our order we received it in a timely manner but we got rice and no sauce with our tenders (hot sauces they offer). Our side were mac n cheese which was thick, it was ok, some mash potatoes I think it was potatoe salad dry and I just don't like that miracle whip taste. My wife asked about our order being wrong and the cashier said we will take care of it, perfect in my eyes. We waited 10 minutes still no fries so that's when I stood up and asked about our fries and sauces for our tenders I waited patiently for 2 minutes while both cashiers had their backs to the cashier since they were talking to customers I didn't feel like interrupting but the customers told them you have someone waiting, I then asked about our order she went inside grabbed some fries and handed them to me, I asked what about our other order and sauces she looks at me confused and said "didn't your wife ask about it?" I said yes and we still never received anything that's why I'm here and none of our tenders have any of your sauces so can I get the sweet Hawaiian sauce, she looks at me confused, we can't give out those sauces, so I told her what am I supposed to eat all of our tenders with she said the others which were your generic ketchup, ranch etc. I sat back down, we drove from south point the volcanos I would have been happier with a cup of noodles than this $62 meal, I am on vacation so spending this on tenders and service did rub me the wrong way and of course I can't come back but please have better service. By the way the chicken sandwich is just 2 tenders at least the slice of bread that comes with the tenders toast it and add some butter. I didn't get to enjoy the tenders since I didn't get any sauce but ranch. The atmosphere outside was great, nice weather with live music and some benches to eat and enjoy the music other than that I didn't enjoy it again this was my experience I'm sure and hope others are better and I wish I had tasted some sauces especially since this was the second time we came to eat the first time they were installing the doors so they were closed should have taken the hint from the...
