Sourdough & Co. — Restaurant in Hayward

My husband and I enjoyed our first visit to this new restaurant. We were prompted to search for a spot to eat a pastrami sandwich for lunch after church because we recently celebrated our 46th anniversary, and were recalling a sandwich shop we loved as students that used to be on Mission and Harder (Ivan's) back when we met at Cal State Univ. Hayward (East Bay now). Sourdough & Co's pastrami sandwich is delicious too, but had a prettier presentation than way back when :). I ordered the largest for us to share, with extra meat. Next time I may have them heat up the meat more to coincide with our memory, but it was still sooo yummy. We also tried the clam chowder and it was wonderful. I am giving a 4, today because not only did took while for food to made because the staff was having fun chatting but my order was made after another person order way after me. Once I got home sandwichs we're label wrong as well I added avocado as extra for each of the sandwich and none had it. I recommend having a supervisor or manager on duty, because if a customer pays extra for items to be added staff needs to make sure is added to sandwich. I had to ask how long it was going to take for food to be ready and then staff got to work. I waited 25 min for my food to be made, but yet it was slow. TL,DR; GREAT STAFF!!! Solid sandwiches that are small but delicious. A missing item causes 3 stars instead of 4.

The staff here was AMAZING. They were helpful and willing to look up ingredients for my wife's special needs. They took time with the order The food was good but it was small. The sandwiches are not as wide as other places. But it's still a good sandwich. Extra points for having a lettuce wrap option!! It was a perfect tight lettuce wrap, not sloppy at all. Okay the bad stuff. The 3 star rating had to do with the missing avocado for my sandwich. And I searched hard for it. It cost $1.25 extra which is why I was disappointed. Overall I might come back but disappointment on a first impression is hard...
