If you're looking for an authentic NJ/NY bagel, this is not it. I spent the past 5 years in NJ and can tell you that bagel den misses the mark on that. This is my second visit to the bagel den as I wanted to give it another try before writing any review.
Here's what's wrong; #1. The bagels do not appear to be boiled and the texture is all wrong. They do not have the texture and chew that a NJ/NY bagel has. I feel like I'm biting into a crusty Italian bread. If you know, you know. Can't explain it much better than that. #2 They don't have American cheese. This is the standard cheese on a bagel or hard roll breakfast sandwich in NJ/NY. If you order a 'bacon egg and cheese' you would get american by default. #3. The eggs for the breakfast sandwiches appear to be microwaved instead of being cooked on a flattop. They should be a fried egg, not a nuked one. They do not taste the same at all. #4. Since the eggs (and I'm now assuming the breakfast meats as well) are microwaved, they aren't melting the cheese on the egg/meat before assembly of the sandwich. So you get this thick cheese slice that just barely melts. (American cheese would melt better, but they don't have it) You don't get that gooey melt cheese experience that you would get back in NJ/NY.
Now don't get me wrong. It's not all bad. If you aren't from NJ/NY then this is honestly probably a pretty good bagel. The service is great, it's clean, the atmosphere is nice, and the overall quality of ingredients seems to be good. But if you've spent any time in the tri-state area, then you'll likely be disappointed by...
Read moreAfter indulging in the heavenly pretzel bagel at Bagel Den, I found myself unable to shake off the lingering sense of satisfaction that accompanied each blissful bite. As the night descended and I retired to bed, I couldn't shake the craving that had taken root within me. It was as if the memory of that delectable bagel had woven itself into the fabric of my being, refusing to be ignored.
Tossing and turning, I found myself longing for the comforting presence of another Bagel Den creation. Unable to resist the pull any longer, I slipped out of bed and made my way back to the kitchen. There, nestled within the confines of the paper bag, lay the object of my desire - a solitary pretzel bagel, its golden exterior beckoning me like a siren's call.
With trembling hands, I cradled the bagel close to my chest, reveling in its warmth and aroma. As I took a tentative bite, a wave of contentment washed over me, soothing my restless mind and weary soul. With each subsequent bite, I felt a sense of tranquility settle over me, as if all was right with the world.
And so, with the pretzel bagel as my steadfast companion, I drifted off into a peaceful slumber, the echoes of Bagel Den's culinary magic dancing in my dreams. From that moment on, I knew that no matter where life took me, a piece of Bagel Den would always hold a special place in my heart - and perhaps...
Read moreWaited way too long in the drive through before anyone took our order, then after taking our money we waited maybe 20 mins for 2 bagels (one toasted, the other not) and the toaster bagel was cold. There were maybe 6 people inside eating, we saw atleast 5 workers at 12pm on a Sunday. Awful management- per response to Owner - the older lady who took our order wrote it on a piece of paper (and the young girl who she gave the order to as well)- and how long it took her to put it into your system is your "unknown" factor. I was able to go to walk to the smiths grocery store, find and buy formula, walk back all the way around the building to find my car-still at the window- mix a bottle of formula, feed my baby, get back in the front seat and still wait several minutes for a cold bagel! (To Owner-My guess is your staff didnt enter our order in until i was back from the grocery store and feeding my baby OR they left the bagels allowing the toasted one to cool after your "5 min delivery") I hope the manager improves the delivery system because your product and schmear is tasty, but CUSTOMER...
