Bob Evans — Restaurant in Hempfield Township

My review will be based on a few different criteria.

Overall appearance outside and inside of restaurant: Interior: Clean for the most part, but was not thoroughly cleaned, especially for coming in the first few hours of opening.

I found dirt under a table as well as urine on one of the women's toilet seats that looked like it was potentially there for a length of time.

These areas should have been checked prior to closing and prior to opening.

Exterior: The parking lot needs cleaned some. It is not terrible, but does need cleaned. There are also a few small potholes that need to be repaired.

Overall Rating: 1 star

Overall appearance of food - Very professional - 5 stars

Quality of food - High quality and very fresh - 5 stars

Price of food - They are on par with their pricing structure and reasonable compared to other places. - 5 stars

Expectations versus observations - The only thing they need to work on is double checking areas for cleanliness. I do expect things to be clean when I go somewhere, especially if you're opening up for the day. - 4 stars

Friendliness and attitude of staff - They are friendly and accommodating. I asked for a different seat due to the booth being uncomfortable. They accommodated my request. - 5 stars

Bad place to work for. I came in 10 of. Nice and early and dressed very businesslike. In high hopes I would walk out with the job. The ad online stated very clearly what It was they needed (back of house) and exact wage In numbers. It also stated WILLING TO TRAIN. I had an interview with a man and instead of giving me a chance, he decided to ask me over and over again why Bob Evans as a cook and not* loss prevention or security. (Which is all that’s on my resume). Guess he didn’t read my cover letter. He asked If I was interested In front of the house and asked about salary. Don’t ask me that. Tell me what you’re offering to pay and a cashier or server Is not what I applied for.. It’s crazy how a place can be so understaffed but also so picky in who they’re hiring. Mind you, I Included I live In Greensburg 15 minutes away with transportation and open availability. He then tells me how there needs to be a “second interview” because “that’s just how Bob Evans does It. So we can see what works for you and what we’re looking for”. Makes no sense If I’m already there. What more do you expect? It’s not that serious. Don’t put “willing to train” then. Be mindful of your ad because it’s very misleading. Last time I’ll go here. The server was the only positive thing about the entire visit. (Her name began with an R.) It was odd for a Saturday afternoon, there was no music on in the restaurant, and the host looked like he just crawled out of bed. Literally. We were seated, and ordered. Went to the restroom and seen a male employee use the restroom and leave without washing his hands. He worked in the kitchen. 😳 Should have left then. We each ordered potato soup and an A1 burger with fries. Pretty easy. The potato soup was literally frozen potato bits thawed with watered down cheese sauce on them. That’s it. Yellow thick goo covered potatoes. No other color or ingredient present. Ok, 2nd time we should have left. Now it’s pure curiosity. The burgers came. Said a1 sauce and Carmelized onions. 🤣 there was no sign of A1 at all, onions were raw onions tossed on a dirty grill to get some color, I don’t think the burger was real meat, and about the size of a McDonald’s patty. It wasn’t even warm enough to melt the cheese. If it was real. Then overheard the server say she was the only server working all day. If I was her I’d of packed up my notepad and left!
