Staff was friendly, place was clean, atmosphere was nice. All good marks there.
So I'm not one to write reviews, however last night's food just hit a sour note. Three of us tried different bbq (baby back ribs, pulled pork, and st louis ribs) sides (Cole slaw, broccoli, wedges, fries, and baked potato) beer (blue moon, Sam Adam's Boston lager). Of all those items, the broccoli was the best item by a wide margin. We're not sure what beer any of us actually received, but it was not even close to what we ordered. My blue moon was almost to an amber color and very cloudy with spicy notes. No where close to what I was craving. I ordered the baby back with broccoli and wedges. The ribs honestly seemed dry, almost jerky like. I literally saturated them in all four different flavors of sauces to try and make something of it. The wedges were very fried. Almost crispy to the center and tough to bite into. Good news is the broccoli was flavorful and good, so I had something there. My two friends literally dispised the coleslaw. They mentioned dry and tasteless. Guy with the pulled pork said it was ok at best. Guy with the st louis ribs ran into the same issues I did with my ribs. Even mentioned he's not sure he can taste a different between the two. Disappointing for me, since baby back cost more lol. He also mentioned if not for the condiments, the baked potato very much tasted like it was cooked days earlier. Before this the last few times I had been here (pre-covid) I remember getting burgers and they were good. The place seemed rather dead at 5:30-6pm, except for people at the bar. Only one other family was seated on our half of the resturant while...
Read moreI love good food, good service and I tip well in cash. Especially since I am in the service industry. I already knew this was going to be an experience. Being that it was dinner time there was a 45 minute wait. To begin, the server was nice enough, but … we ordered 2 sweet teas and a draft beer. The tea was unsweetened and the beer was flat. I was offered sugar to sweeten the tea. I opted for ginger ale (no beverage refills offered). The beer was replaced but not much better. We had 2 meals that were 1/2 slab rib, so of course it was a full slab cut in 1/2 but one side was dry. We had an order of Korean bbq pork pops and cornbread (appetizers that should have come with the entrees). The cornbread came as an appetizer without plates. The person that brought the cornbread was asked to bring plates. They never returned. When I asked our server about it l, I was told I didn’t specify that I wanted it with our meal and she would get plates. Once the food finally came, I had lost my appetite. I ate 2 pops and 1/2 of a baked potato. Another person in my party asked if we would get hot cornbread and by the time it came out most of the meal was finished. The server offered to get someone else to replace her because she didn’t feel that she was able to help us, but why? If you ask if everything is okay and you are told no and given the reason why, then the next step is to fix it if you can. Listen to your customers. Every thing is not going to perfect all the time. I was so disappointed. At this point the only thing that was left to do was give us the check. After reading other reviews I didn’t bother to ask for a manager I was over...
Read moreAtmosphere is a bit bland and not what I remember since last going to a SB restaurant. It's about on par with chilis as far as atmosphere. Husband and I ordered the 1/2 rack baby back ribs, one with mashed potato and coleslaw the other work fries and beans. Rubs we're very good although they did have several pieces of bone chips in them which I always think is dangerous. Overall they were good, not fatty and not over or under sauced. Coleslaw was very good as were the baked beans. The mashed potato was just so so and the fries were undercooked. No worries since the ribs were incredibly filling. When we were presented the check I noticed were were charged $5 more per meal than expected and showed the waitress that she charged us for the regular smokey bones ribs and not the baby back. She disappears and comes back trying to blame it on us saying she didn't know we wanted baby back ribs. Well that would be a good excuse if we were not served baby back ribs. Then she kept saying she didn't know we wanted imported baby back ribs which are cheaper. No, there is literally one type of baby back ribs in the menu which is what we ordered and what we ate. She said she had the manager adjust it as a favor. A favor to who? You're trying to charge me for something I never ordered. Perhaps it's because I can't with a $10 coupon they thought they'd switch the item when the bill came to recoup their loss. I'll be back but will be watching that check...
