Unfortunately, this is not going to be a glowing review. I had to post this review immediately! Tonight was my first time at this restaurant, but I'm confident I will not make a 30-minute drive to come here again! I will start with the positive things first! The unisex bathroom smells great, looks great, and was overall very clean! They get one star for that, which in all actuality should boost their score because I always give one star for restrooms if the restroom is good. The interior of the restaurant was good, too! However, that's kind of where the goodness stops!
The reason for going to a restaurant is for eating. I paid approximately $70 for my friend and I. Now, you would automatically assume that food that is pricey is going to be top of the line! Well, It was not, regrettably. In the first place, the fried rice was at best room temperature. It's clear that it was not very hot and fresh.
Secondarily, I ordered a two-person meal, as it's called. That came with two bowls of wonton soup that were decent. Also, there were supposed to be some fried chicken wings! I cannot tell you what that protein was, but it was not chicken! If it was chicken, that chicken was super, duper old, or it had not been prepared well, or they did something weird to it. You'll see in the videos and pictures I uploaded what I'm talking about. But it did not look like the traditional chicken wings I'm accustomed to!
I tried explaining this to the woman who served us (who was mostly kind to us). She tried to debate the matter with me, telling me that it WAS chicken and that it's "dark meat" and that it's supposed to look like that! LOL Chil', I sent it back! I was so hoping that when she brought the new chicken, it would be a completely different experience. Little did I know that she would go back, have the cook prepare two new chicken wings, but bring back a similar product. I ultimately did not eat the wings, nor did my friend eat them.
Next, the 2 for 1 dish also came with a concoction they called "orange chicken." That chicken was fried really hard. It was very old, and I think they took some old product, repurposed it or refried it, and served us that! It was super tough and hard to eat. Needless to say, I did not finish that. I left the whole plate of that stuff. My friend took it and decided he might give it to his dog or something.
Honestly, the longer I'm writing this, I think I'm going to lower their score from two stars to one star.
The final dish was a prepared meal of what they called "beef with broccoli." Again: the beef was not great! It was a very low, inferior quality. And even though this is not a fine dining restaurant, the beef should have been a much better quality for a $70 meal! Alas, it was not. A few pieces were soft and tender, while the majority of the pieces were tough and chewy, with pieces of fat interlaced throughout. The quality was so poor.
Yes. I'm fairly certain that I won't be back here again. I know I said in the beginning that I might come back for the fried rice, and perhaps that'll be better! However, for a first-time visit, this place is not it!
In closing, I should have known that entering a restaurant like this, on a Friday night at dinner time (around 6pm), and seeing the restaurant completely empty, would indicate that the food leaves something to be desired! Of course, I did not trust my better judgement. LOL Regrettably, I stayed, paid $70, and did not get amazing food for it.
If you do decide to come here, be warned! If I had paid attention to the one and two star reviews before coming here, I would not have wasted this money. One of the employees told me that they've only been there for 2 years. If they keep serving food like this, they're going to be...
Read moreThis restaurant is newly opened and I was very excited to try it. I don’t make a lot of money but decided to “splurge” because there’s no way you can mess up Chinese food right? I was very wrong. While the prices were sort of affordable, (almost everything being 11-14 not counting the dinner specials) the price of the food definitely did not match the quality of the food. I received the appetizer course meal thing for $12 and the suprise on my face when i saw only 4 items, that were terribly made might i add. For 12 dollars??? When my pork fried rice arrived, i noticed it was a little too dark but i didn’t think much and tasted it. That wasn’t fried rice that was BURNT rice. Not only did it have a burnt taste but it was terribly bland and just not meeting my expectations whatsoever. The last thing I ordered was chow mein, my personal favorite. The disappointment when I tasted it was clear on my face. It was terrible, bland as well as burnt tasting. I am aware this is a new restaurant but they definitely have more work needed to be done. The kicker is that there was only myself and another couple in the restaurant so there was no excuse for why the cooks didn’t take their time making this food. I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreOnline experience: Ordered online from their website around 2:10 and was told 2:25 pickup time. Came in to pick up at 2:25, went to the counter to let them know I was there for pickup, was told not ready and to sit by the door. 2:30 was brought a bag for doordash pickup, told them it wasn't mine. Then they asked if I was there from Grubhub. Turns out they did not see my online order, and they had to cook it. Got food close to 3:00. Restraunt itself was small, but looked clean and organized. Food: Ordered sweet and sour chicken and potstickers. Total for both was about $23. Potstickers themselves were decent, sauce presented with them has overpowered with sesame oil. S&S chicken came already sauced, so chicken at the bottom was soggy and breading falling off. Lacked real flavor and kind of bland. Had almost a metalic taste. Food also did not come with any rice like virtually every other chinese restraunt I have eaten at. Overall: Food was just ok, portions were average. Probably...
