Very Bizarre - They act as if customers are an inconvenience. Sometimes we waited 45 minutes for a glass of wine or beer. Other times we ordered food that we never received. The workers seemed untrained, overwhelmed, and had lots of trouble using their computer system. One day I stopped by with some friends. A worker (manager?) pulled me aside and the first thing he said was “I’m going to ask you to leave and never come back”. I was completely shocked and asked him what this was about. He then ïżŒwrongly accused me of not paying our bill from the last time. I tried to talk to him about it and show him my credit card receipt on my phone, proving that I had paid. He wouldn’t even give me a chance to show him. It was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever experienced at any bar or restaurant. They never showed me whatever bill he was referring to, so I never had any way of knowing what was on it or if it was even ours. Maybe the bill belonged to somebody else, or they charged us for the food that we never received and then never gave us the bill. Customers not receiving the food they ordered seems to be pretty common, as stated in other reviews. Regardless of why this happened, it doesn’t feel good to be wrongly accused of something like this. It’s much worse to not be given a chance to redeem myself. Considering all the trouble they were having using their computer system, it should have been obvious that this was some mistake on their end instead of blaming their customer. They easily could have just discussed this with me in a respectful way and let me show them my credit card receipt, instead of handling it in this strange, aggressive manner. After reading other reviews here and on apps like Yelp and OpenTable, I can see that our experience of poor service is common. However, the way they immediately assumed that I had intentionally not paid our bill (that I never received), takes it to another level and was just plain rude and unacceptable. How is a customer supposed to pay a bill that they were never given, or discuss charges that are not legitimate without seeing the bill? I grew up in Hermosa Beach, still live here, and I’m a regular at all the bars and restaurants by the pier. I would never intentionally leave a bill unpaid and all the other bar and restaurant managers who know me would agree with that. I understand they’re new and have some wrinkles to iron out, but they shouldn’t be blaming their customers for their problems. I would still like to resolve this with them, but so far they just seem angry and hostile towards their customers. Many other customers have described similar experiences in their reviews here and the apps.

Really bad. This place ruined our day. Aside from the lukewarm food that was not very good and took too long to arrive, the kicker was the TWENTY-FIVE percent auto-tip that was applied; 66 bucks forced tip for the crap service and food. We complained and they said « it’s our policy. No, it’s not posted, and no it’s not in the menu, but it’s our policy for parties of 6 or more. » already annoying. But on top, we were 5 and a baby, and one of us left after 5 min. So really four people. The shocking thing is that all they had to do was say « sorry, we should make the policy more clear « , remove the auto -tip, and we would have tipped normally on our 315$ tab. But now we hate them, will never go back, and are spending time posting bad reviews. Life is too short to go to places like this. Avoid at all costs. Go to Vista instead.

We were shocked by the auto tip of 25%, especially considering the long wait for lukewarm and sub-par food. It seems like they should tell you before they seat you or at least post it in the menu; they don’t. When we complained about the surprise charge, the server, Dakota, said “go back to Europe if you don’t like it.” After spending 315$ this kind of dismissive hostility was really shocking. We hated this place. Strongly recommend to avoid.

Came here with my visiting parents and our new baby to treat ourselves after a long weekend of fun. Ambiance, music, sunset — all impeccable but that’s about where the positives end.

First server was hyper casual — which can sometimes be fun but it edged into “I don’t care enough” territory as drink orders and appetizers were forgotten or took 30-45 min to arrive. Before ordering dinner entrees there was a shift change out and suddenly we had a new server who was very much on it but still botched a side appetizer. It seemed she had to run multiple tables. No one gave us a heads up which isn’t a huge deal but was pretty confusing about who we were meant to ask when stuff was still missing from the woman going off shift.

On food, the only notable worthwhile was the crab cake which was pretty good. I made the mistake of popping for the ribeye and was flat shocked at the gristled, fatty cut that came out. I was doubly disgusted at the apparent BBQ sauce (???wth???) that was drizzled all over it. With all the wind and sun setting it was cold in minutes and literally inedible. At this point we gave up.

Last notable clueless staff moment was waiting to exit as a number of staff (and maybe some management?) stood in the glass doors between the dining area and indoor bar outside having a full discussion and picking up drink orders. No one yielded for the baby stroller so I just waited until all the people carrying trays left after a few minutes. I guess they didn’t have to acknowledge they were in the way but it just seems like normal customer service to think about it and we felt...

Gorgeous views, cute place. Service was horrible.

We walked in at 1:00 for lunch, 50% of tables were empty. They would only seat us inside because there were reservations. Those tables remained empty the entire time we were there.

The waitress didn’t know the menu. We asked 4-5 questions and she didn’t know the answer to any of them. Simple questions like, “what are the spreads that come with ‘breads and spreads’?” (the first item on the menu which they were out of anyway.) “What are the market vegetables?” Not sure. “Are there any options or modifications available for vegans?” Hmm
idk. I can check. (Never learned the answer to this question.)

We had to ask for water and flatware/napkins after our appetizer arrived. We ordered a second round of drinks that didn’t come until after we reminded the waitress we ordered them. We were charged twice for hummus and when we asked the waitress to take the second one off she was sincerely confused. She actually thought we ordered two rounds of hummus and we had to convince her that we didn’t.

There were plenty of managers walking around. Not a single one stopped to ask us about our experience.

The food was meh. We paid over $200 for lunch (2 adults, two children.)

I would recommend this place for drinks by the beach with a view, but you’ll find better service and food at plenty of other restaurants nearby. Too bad. We are locals and would have loved to frequent a...
