Read morePossibly my favorite dinning during a recent visit to Hermosa.
I stopped in for an early dinner around six on a weekday and was seated immediately. Waiter let me know I could choose from their normal dinner menu or even their Social Hour menu if i wanted to try some small plates .
So glad he recommended this to me as I ended up choosing two amazing plates that were perfectly prepared.
I started with a cocktail that was nicely balanced with a gin of the waiters recommendation. They brought out a freshly baked bread with cheese on top and an olive oil and balsamic dipping. So simple and so delicious.
The two plates I chose were Shrimp scampi and crispy Brussels sprouts. Shrimp does not come with pasta as most people would think . Instead it has a southern Mediterranean approach with four big scrimp on a bed of lightly cooked greens in a garlic infused broth , served with a grilled bread to soak up the sauce . Heavenly .
While there is often not much to a side of Brussels sprouts, these were cooked perfectly with the right amount of char and crispness to them . Both dishes went well with the cocktail and all flavors balanced out so good , making this a great experience .
My waiter and the staff were very accommodating, made great recommendations and very professional.
Make it a point to visit this restaurant and would advise also to make reservations as by the time I left the place was packed .
Keep up the great work ! Look forward to visiting again next time I...
Read moreThe food was fantastic. Atmosphere was great. Extremely cold beer!! Servers were delightful but perhaps a little busy. The place is very small and there were 5 servers but I had to ask for salt 4 times. I asked when I ordered my meal for the server to bring salt and a peppermill. The pepper was ground for me when the salad arrived but I again asked for salt ( original server). Waited, waited, waited, waited, no salt. App arrived, asked again (different second server). Meal arrived, asked again and finally the third server I asked walked over and brought it back immediately. By now, my salad, appetizer and main course we're now ALL on the table at once.
Other than the salt issue, we had a great dinner. Two entrees, one salad, one app, 2 drinks and 3 beers, $145 with tip. A little pricey for penne and sea bass but not "overpriced" in my opinion. All of the food was seasoned wonderfully and cooked perfectly.
If I had to nitpick (besides the salt issue)...the sea bass was served with asparagus and red potatoes, both good but perhaps the asparagus had slightly too much "tang" or sour, maybe lemon? And the potatoes may have had slightly too much rosemary flavor, but both were good. Some would call them BOLD flavored.
I...
