So being from Virginia Beach I've always wondered about jack in the box restaurants. How do they compare to other chain restaurants? How is the food? How is the customer service? Location? Well I got the urge to try one today. So the family and I hopped in the car and drove 5+hrs to the closest one in Hickory, N.C. When we arrived the place was not that busy but the drive thru had a bit of a line so we decided to dine in. 1 Coke machine that wasn't working and there were a few customers was all that was inside. I walked up to the counter and was greeted professionally. There were many items on the menu! Ranging from burgers to chicken sandwiches to a chicken fajita pita? And even breakfast was served all day. I was excited for the options available. So I ordered 2 ofthe spicy chicken sandwich meal with french fries one with curly fries. 2 orders of the tacos and the loaded mini tacos and a sourdough jack burger plus a chicken nuggets kids meal. The price for everything was about 40 dollars. I wanted to try the chicken and the burger options. So I opened the chicken sandwich the filet was large it hung off the bun. Mayo lettuce tomato was the toppings. It had a southern style breading that was crispy but soggy at the same time. The fries were cold as ice😓. The tacos were different they were deep fried with lettuce American cheese and taco sauce. I think they would have been better if they were fresh. The burger was lack luster. It seemed small and the bread wasn't toasted very well. The cheese was not melted and the toppings stood out more than the burger and it was a bit salty. Ambience, the restaurant was a bit chilly inside. The staff had the ceiling fans going full blast making the air inside cooler than it was. It's only 50 degrees outside... Why have the fans going? Location, it's in a pretty busy area. Lots of stores and traffic. Overall, This location didn't seem too bad. The quality of the food could have been better. And the temperature of the food should have been on point seeing how they weren't that busy. Do I think it was worth the drive.... No... Am I glad I got to try...
Read moreWent by to grab my kids some food on our way home. My son likes their chicken tenders. While ordering the tenders a young lady ask did I want 3 or 5 piece I said 3 PC then I said is the 3 cheaper and she responded saying it starts at 9.99 but that's not what I asked you. I asked you what you want to drink. (With an attitude already) I said oh I want sprite and curly fries she says that will be a up charge. I said when did yall start charging more for curly frys is that something new? She says it's always been like that I say I've never heard of that she says well it's always been like that. I said oh well whatever I still want them and that was that. I go to the window and pay my order was like 45 dollars. She hands me my drinks and closed the window I sit there for like 5 min. I'm not sure why they got so mad about me asking when they started charging for something I never new about but I must have pissed them off. Some guy comes over with her to the windows and starts practically throwing my bags of food at me talking rude and with an attitude then slams the windows shut in my face. My kids were with me and crying for their food other wise I would have just told them to give me my money back. Extremely rude people for no reason. All because I asked when the started charging 50 cent more for curly frys. I had never heard of it. I won't be...
Read moreI waited to get to the speaker to order for about 10-15 minutes. When I got to the speaker, I sat there, and no one said anything. I assumed the speaker was broken, so I pulled up, and waited once again around 10 minutes to get to the window. Once I got to the window, there was the STORE MANAGER refusing to let me order. She said “you have to wait in the line like everyone else.” I then proceeded to tell her that I did wait in line like everyone else, I told her that I had actually been waiting quite a while. She then told me that they don’t allow anyone to order at the window. I tried to explain to her that once I got to the speaker, no one said anything at all, so I pulled up thinking it was broken. She then told me that I needed to leave. First of all, I have never been treated like this ANYWHERE, much less by the store manager of a restaurant. I told her that I have money, and I would just like to order my food. She then said, “that’s it, I’m calling the police to have you removed from the property.” Not wanting to cause a scene, I drove away empty handed, and absolutely horrified that a store manager at Jack in the Box would treat their customers in such a disgusting way. I even called afterwards to ask for the name of the store manager, she answered, and would not tell me. I assume she was afraid that she would be reprimanded. I will...
