The Sweet Shop by Mumita's Bakery — Restaurant in Highland Village

Buyers beware: sells expired items. Visited 1/29/25. Store was cute. Prices were decent. Small stock of everything. We purchased five items: salted caramel moon pie, coffee crisp bar, violet crumble bar, and a milka bar. I noticed the employee looking under the flap on one of the candy bar wrappers while checking us out, which I thought was odd since the barcode was on the side. Once we got home, we realized four of the five items were beyond their expiration/best by dates (by several months). The milka bar was the only thing that wasn’t expired. Despite living almost an hour away I have visited this candy store several times in the last couple months and keep coming back at every chance I have! First of all the cookies are absolutely delicious… they don’t taste commercially made instead have that homemade feeling made with love! Next I have never ever met nicer business owners, the lady that owns it also bakes all the treats and I would recommend the churro cookie! And third the selection of candy is amazing. We are so excited for The Sweet Shop to open up. This is what Highland village really needs. They have sweets that we haven’t seen in years nostalgia candy. And also new ones as well.
