On my trip to the food carts a couple of days ago, I chanced upon this little place.
The menu immediately caught my eye with the drinks that seemed titled with more than just your generic names, so I took the plunge and ordered myself and a friend two different coffees (naturally, so I could try two of them at the same time!).
The first thing I noticed is the owner was probably the nicest person I've ever met. We engaged in conversation, since I had questions about what he brings to the table, and he was ready and willing to let me know anything and everything I asked about. Super friendly, warm, and inviting. That's 50% of the trade right there!
I ordered a Brigadeiro Mocha and a Cardamom Rose Latte. He gets to work for me, and within some minutes the coffees are ready. I try both of them then and there, and honestly it was a magical experience.
I drink coffee for the coffee - not for the sweet creams and syrups, the extra flavors, or "just the caffein." I want to taste nuance and notes of the coffee itself. This little cafe has mastered the fusion of coffee and flavors! Everything added to the coffee (both that I tried) only accentuated the coffee itself, and nothing was overriding. I loved that the two coffees I ordered weren't overly sweet.
The Brigadeiro Mocha had a beautifully deep background chocolate flavor that played together with the coffee, somehow making the coffee flavor richer. There was a touch of an almost molasses sweetness that further deepened the coffee notes. It was probably the most exceptional mocha I've ever had.
The Cardamom Rose Latte was equally beautiful. Middle-Eastern notes of flavor, where the coffee was definitely forward, tamed only slightly by the dairy, and the bright yet delicate note of cardamom brings a purely comforting note of spice to the foreground, that fades into a beautifully fragrant whisper of rose. I haven't tried anything like this before, and I was in love immediately because, personally, this was an exotic and unique take on coffee that I haven't ever experienced.
This whole experience was beautiful - and I can't wait to return to try more items, and try...
Read moreIn addition to some fantastic freebees and succulent samples provided to us as part of an event hosted at the Hillsboro Downtown Station, my rambunctious toddler, running off on one of his little adventures, wandered up to the counter of the Cabana do Cafe, where the employees offered him a free sample (with my permission, of course) of some moist, delicious docinho de coco cake, which he absolutely devoured!
In thanks due to their generosity, I purchased another of said coconut (cup)cakes, as well as a savory Pão de queijo cheese bun, something much more my speed, as I have almost a negative sweet tooth. Of course, my son (and wife, for that matter) had some of that as well, but hey, fatherhood is all about sacrifices, am I right?
Very impressed with the friendliness and generosity of the staff here at Cabana do Cafe - something a lot of businesses (small or large) seem to lack these days. On that point alone, they deserve five stars, with another five for offering such intriguing, unusual, and utterly delicious food. After this visit, you can call me Cabana Boy, because I'm sure I will be back any time I'm...
Read moreThis place is so amazing ! Literally was there just 10 minutes ago but omg! It’s super cute branding + the workers are so nice ! I’m an awkward person but they are super friendly and I didn’t feel as awkward as I usually feel in other places. My boyfriend bought a Brazilian retail soda which was super delicious! They have a great selection in their pasteries + drink section. I decided to get their passion mango smoothie, it has a great sweetness with a hint of tart. And the thickness is perfect. We also took 2 Brigadeiro and a pumpkin chai cupcake. Our family really enjoyed them. If you’re looking for a place with delicious pastries, AMAZING customer service and drinks. I think you would enjoy this place as much...
