To start out, the young girl waiting on us didn't look very happy, and when I softly asked, "where's your smile" (with a smile), she said "What?", so I asked again, she flashed an immediate stretched out smile, as if being sarcastic, then just as quickly, back to a straight faced frown. She continued to take our order, however, was replaced by another waitress, who presented herself more hospitably, although, noticeably patronizing and impersonal, was asked to repeat our dinner order. Not to let this spoil our dinner, we just overlooked this behavior, and accepted this as better than the one girl before. Next problem. The appetizers were not served until after we finished our meal, with me dumbfoundedly asking my wife, "weren't we supposed to get served the appetizers first?". My wife made the decision to accept the late order anyway, as not to cause any problems. After one bite, my wife said the appetizers tasted rancid and old, not like the last time she had ordered on a previous visit. So she politely asked that it be returned. No problem. I still gave a gratuitous $25.00 tip (provably written on our receipt), on a $133.00 bill, and even purchased two 25.00 discount gift cards, totaling $200.00 on our bill. We left in good spirits. Here's where it turned into an unimaginable nightmare. Being that my Wife, and Son both have B-Days in the same month of Feb, we all agreed we would give P.F. Chang's another chance, but this time with a request for a remarkably kind waitress we knew by name from a previous visit. Here's what happened! The details: I offered my business card in person, with our home phone number, and asked Brian (one of the managers) to please pass it on to Ariana, the waitress we were trying to request, but strangely kept getting the same redundant response, "We don't give out information about our employees, not once, but 3 times in a row. I felt like I had to keep reminding him, "I'm only asking that you give my business card to Arriana, as to whether she would be available on the day of our party, and having to continue reminding him, I wasn't asking personal information from anyone. He finally said, "even if I accepted the card, I couldn't guarantee I would remember to give it to her". After that response, I knew then this manager was either not paying attention, or just being stubborn, which I then questioned him, "you're the manager correct?". He said yes, and I immediately turned around and left without another word, as I knew then, there was no way of getting through to this guy. Later on that same evening, I then contacted P.F. Chang's Corporate office to see it they would allow this particular request for Ariana to be our waitress, thinking they would be able to pass on the info, but was told another person in their corporate office would soon contact me within the next couple of days with an answer. No problem! Three days later, I received a personal phone call from Erica, a 2nd manager from the same Hillsboro branch P.F. Chang's I was having problems with. Not the corporate office person that would get back to us as first told. I was immediately instructed how to receive a refund on my 50.00 worth of gift cards, and not to come in person as it could easily be handled over the phone by taking a picture of the back of the two cards, to include our credit card name and number. I found this surprisingly highly irregular, and told Erica, I didn't want a return on the gift card, and never asked for one, but finally just said I would leave it up to my wife (who wasn't present at the time) to make the final decision, as she had the gift cards anyway. I eventually took this as a vindictive gesture due to my calling corporate and going over their heads. Upon arriving, my wife simply told Erica she was there to receive the refund. Erica's immediate response was angrily abrupt...
ย ย ย Read moreIt was over 6 months ago I was treated horribly - but it was so bad, I feel compelled to warn others now. TLDR: Narcissist / "Karen" manager. This place is nothing like it used to be. Any time I visited friends in Hillsboro - this was the place to go. Great food / atmosphere / service. For years, always, always - did they accommodate my onion intolerance. Swapped onions in Mongolian Beef for shredded carrots. So, I order takeout online about an hour before close, and call, as my friend is on the way, just to make sure they know about the "no onions." I'll protect his identity - a male server "Don" answers. He sounded downright afraid to check on my order. "Are you SURE you want to do a special order?" I was taken aback...but insisted. Yeah. I've DONE the special order. I can't eat anything cooked with onions. Please make sure. The rest of our brief conversation was almost a plea to reconsider. Resigned, he finally goes. I'm on hold a while. A female picks up the phone about 8 mins later. "I'm sorry we're closed." Click. Not only was it 30 mins until closing, but she hung up over my explaining. I call back. No answer. I call again. No answer. 3rd try: Female answers, turns out to be manager. What followed was the most insanely rude conversation I've ever had over food. Huffing-puffing "what is it about closed do you not understand?" So - should my friend turn around and go home? Did you cook it? (I'm on hold again.) "Looks like we have a Mongolian beef order. But it's far too late for some change to it. It's finished." I explained I didn't "change" anything. I asked if it had onions in it. If so, re-make it correctly, as-ordered. (Lots of snarky back-talk.) I explained look - all I did was call as a COURTESY to remind you folks I can't have onions. (Laughs at me - "dear, then all you want is beef! Look, we're NOT going to give you FREE BEEF to make up for no onions! Do you even KNOW what Mongolian BEEF is? It's a dish with ONIONS!) Um - can I speak to a manager- "I AM the manager." I explained they always accommodated before, subbing carrots. (More scoffing.) "Sure! Sure we did. What ELSE did we do for you?" (Implying I'm a princess.) I was stunned - explained I had spoken with "Don" before- "No. No you didn't. And I don't appreciate you pretending to have telephoned to "help" us." I just called I- "No. No you didn't. The phone hasn't rung for an hour." "Ma'am, I was speaking to "Don." YOU were the one who said we're closed, and hung on me-" "There's no "Don" that works here. Ah. I see. You called the wrong restaurant. And, expect us to re-do everything for you, regardless. That's not going to happen honey." I've had you guys in my contact list for years, and I can show you my phone record- (She talks over me, with more gaslighting, in a gleeful tone of 'you know I'm lying, but I'm having fun lying to you' sort of way - then hangs up on me.) Meanwhile, my friend pulls up. Curbside. He texts "there's onions in it." He walks up to the restaurant, tries the doors, and they had locked them early. Refused to open them. I told my friend to leave the food on the sidewalk. And I...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently came back to try this location after some menu overhauls and I had a gift card.
Service was pretty great per usual. The food presentation has gotten weirder for sure. Its like they wanted to get away from the stereotypical Chinese Takeout image and now they are back to pushing take out so hard that even their serving plates are literally shaped like open take out boxes filled with that popped rice noodle stuff. Really bizarre.
Their food was good. The black pepper chicken was great. Their wok-based dishes have rarely disappointed me.
New Dishes: Tried the new tempura-shrimp style lettuce wraps and was very impressed actually. Its a different style of dish despite the similar form factor. Its much much heavier.
The Avocado spring roll was decent. It seems like a pretty straight rip off of cheesecake factories with some inspired tweaks like adding edamame and water chestnuts (as filler, they don't add much except a little texture). The dipping sauce was pretty good.
The tempura fried sushi roll -- i forget the name -- was just okay. Would not order again. Also these stay insanely hot for a long long time. Heed the servers warnings for not eating these immediately. They will burn you.
The new cocktail choices were good. Adding the Suntory lineup is a good choice, though I could argue they should have been stocking those already like a lot of upscale bars already do.
Older Review Below Really seems to be going down hill. Every time I've been recently there have been errors or a change in recipe/prep. Had to send back a dish the previous two visits (quickly corrected) and this time you can see the attached images. There is an obvious lack of effort on the wait staff and the kitchen.
You can see the email image of their new butternut squash dumplings vs the actual. We got pepper slices that hadn't been seeded and only got slices included the seeds and the tips. No center slices at all. Sauce didn't match up either. No idea what the reality should be since this location has been so inconsistent recently.
Strawberries with the greenery still attached? I don't get it. They are either lazy in the kitchen or pushing this "farm to table" thing a...
