I go frequently, it is a great place to get some decent food when I am hungry and in a hurry. The selection is decent and some of the staff is happy.
I was a little irritated the past few times I went there, not enough to never go back but just irritated. They have some staff that is negatively effecting how the good staff appears.
Some girls who work there were talking over me loudly right next to me across the bar(one was wiping seat next to where I was sitting and the other was making sushi) and had a full on conversation in spanish and loudly. I felt like this was very rude to me as a customer. Just because I cant understand what you are saying doesn't make it any less rude that you are having a conversation loudly while you are on the clock, over me while I am eating. I also noticed lately the fish has not been cleanly cut, and the sizes of the rolls are really uneven, not much care and attention that it used to have, and definitely not on par with a typical sushi restaurant. Also, the girls were eating behind the bar while making the sushi and they did it when thier managers back was turned, and were sneaky about it, telling me they knew what they were doing was unsanitary and against food card rules.
I saw one of thier people was working while sick and sneezed while making the sushi on one of these visits. I am a healthcare worker and seeing all of these things and experiencing these things on my last 2 visits has made me tentative about visiting again.
Finally, what prompted me to visit this review site, today the girl ringing me up asked me how my food was, I awnsered her, and she ignored me. One of my mussels was undercooked and I was just mentioning it, not complaining, she didn't even care, there was no response or expression from her, just acted like a robot when she rung me out. Just annoying, don't even ask if you don't care.
So, I will go back because it is quick and close to my house, and a quick stop when I am shopping in Tanasbourne, but, I don't have high expectations when I go there, and they will continue to go down, as I feel like lately this place is just not as good as it used to be and I blame the new staff, 3 times girls who are rude, inattentive, don't care about food card rules, and don't care how they effect the customers. All of my bad experiences have been attributed to these staff members, and they seem to be close friends with eachother.
Sorry sushitown. I want to have a good experience there and will give you another try. I know the family who opened this works really hard and I want to continue to support local businesses in my area, but they need to find some employees who can at least act like they care about what they are doing. Some of us really look forward to, and love...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews, but I even created a Google+ Account just to write this one, that's how unhappy I am.
The smell of fish should have been my first clue. I had been warned by sushi enthusiasts that if a sushi bar smelled at all of fish, it was best to leave - why didn't I heed them?
There is no price list posted anywhere, not on the walls, not on the counter, not on their "identify the sushi" cards that are usually placed round. This should have been my second clue that something was up. The price jump between the different colored plates is extreme, but you don't find that out until you get the bill.
Then I tried a plate. The sushi itself was uncomfortably, worryingly warm. I finished a plate then chose a second, but the second plate was warm and smelly . I decided to try a spring roll instead, which is usually lettuce, vermicelli rice noodles, carrots, and in this case, shrimp, all wrapped in a rice paper. Instead, this was lettuce, carrots, and a heaping mouthful of the taste of mold. My stomach began to rebel.
Bleeeehhh, I shudder just thinking back on it. There are plenty of other sushi places nearby, and I would choose any of them...
Read moreWe used to frequent this sushi-go-round, but I think this will be our last visit. It has continued to go downhill, but today was especially disappointing. We came in around 1:45pm to avoid the lunch rush. There was still plenty of variety circling the track, however everything we ate was clearly old and cold.
I understand most sushi rolls should be cold, however, there are certain dishes that should be warm at minimum. The stuffed mushrooms, the calamari, gyoza, shumai, and any fried rolls were cold - not even luke warm. I know we could have ordered fresh, but the ladies in the corral were not preparing anything. It looked as though they were taking pre-made plates and warming them up. Definitely NOT fresh! And NOT tasty!
There are so many sushi-go-round businesses, so you would think they would want to have quality food. We paid $42 for 2 of us, and left quite a bit on our plates. When the service worker asked if we wanted a to-go box, I said, "No thank you, the food was cold". I got no acknowledgement, no questions - just a check out bill.
I don't think this business will last much longer without...
