I have visited Island Bagel & Deli several times to pick up some bagels to go. I havenāt yet tried the place for lunch, so I canāt comment on the ādeliā part of their business. But as far as bagels, they are among the best. So, what is there to like about Island Bagel & Deli? (1) Location. The business is located right in the middle of Hilton Head Island, so itās just a short or bike ride away. (2) Ample parking. Island Bagel & Deli is located in the same plaza as Lucky Rooster Restaurant and several other businesses. The parking lot is large and convenient. (3) Adequate seating. If you choose to eat your bagel on location, there are plenty of places to sit. There are even a few tables outside. (4) Coffee. Of course you want coffee in the morning! Island Bagel & Deli has you covered, offering a variety of crafted coffee drinks. (5) Great selection. I havenāt actually counted them, but I would estimate that there are over a dozen different bagel flavors offered daily. (6) Great bagels. The most important reason to go to a bagel place is to get good bagels. You wonāt be disappointed here. The bagels are fantastic! (7) Great toppings. Some people like butter. Others prefer cream cheese. They have both, and their cream cheese comes in a variety of flavors: some sweet, some savory, some spicy. And yes, they sell plain cream cheese as well.
So, is there a downside? Well, yes. They can sometimes get busy. But they get busy for a reason. People like what they sell. But is it worth the wait? If you like good bagels,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe contracted with Island Bagel to cater a beach brunch. The process was not good. To begin with, the communication was poor. I had to initiate every call and fax. Whenever I did call, I rarely got a person on the line. Most times I recieved a voice machine with no room to leave a message. I was more successful getting hold of Rita at the Bluffton store and passing messages along through her for Mark Stone at the Hilton Head store. Then came the day of the event. Mark didn't show up on time - in fact he was over an hour late. I didn't have a cell number contact and again, got the nonexistant message machine at the store. I was on my way to a grocery store for backup food when he finally called me. He arrived by himself and had to haul everything to the beach in multiple trips. Then he left off some of the order and had to go back to the store to get it made and delivered! After all of this, he only gave us a 10% discount and only after we asked for it! Mark's excuse was that they were very busy at the store that morning and he didn't realized it was Memorial Day weekend! Not my problem! Don't make the same...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointed this am. I am an Island resident who thankfully gets his bagel fix during trips back to NJ/NY, but this am I wanted bagels for guests visiting. Masks are required here - and rightfully so - thatās why I was surprised to see the woman preparing my bagel wearing a mask that only covered her lips, her nose exposed. After watching her for a while to see if she would adjust it on her own,I politely pointed to my mask and reminded her to adjust hers. She pretended to either not hear me or not understand me so I repeated the request when the cashier/manager approached her station. Forced to acknowledge me now she mumbled something about not being able to breathe with it. I looked at the cashier and he just shrugged. I donāt know what happened to the original manager/owner from the northeast that used to work here, but his supervision is much needed here. PS the butter on a non-toasted bagel was warm and not...
