Went here during Happy Hour- great selection of food and drinks discounted from 4-6pm. Wasn't busy at all when we got there around 5pm, but there was still live music happening. Seated immediately, service from Evan was pleasant and knowledgeable. We got two rounds of classic margaritas, along with ahi tuna wontons, Buffalo chicken dip (recommended by Evan), and Carolina fireballs to snack on. Everything was great! The tuna wontons were delicious. The chicken dip itself was amazing- the right amount of spicy to creamy ratio, but came with a lot more chips than needed for the amount of dip. Carolina fireballs were tasty, but advertised as spicy and were not (easily remedied by scooping up some Buffalo chicken dip, or adding any of the many hot sauces they had available.) Overall, the vibes were great, staff was attentive and knowledgeable, live music was a bonus, and the food was yummy. The only issue was the stairs to get inside (the inside and outside are both second story). For anyone using disability devices or carrying a stroller, this place would be hard to get up to. Not an issue for us, personally, but just one drawback I could see for anyone who has issues going up and down stairs! But definitely come check this place out for the happy hour, we were very happy with our experience!

My friend and I placed an order over the phone. We couldn't place it with the hostess who answered, unsure if that's the policy or she was unsure how to do it but we had to call to place the order twice and it happened each time. The 2 items my friend and I were initially interested in of course were no longer on menu. No one had updated their Google menu. The Carolina and fire burger, and the big Bert nachos if you were wondering. When we got the food the portions were good but I was a little disappointed. I ordered the curry burger thinking I would at least have to deal with an excess of curry falling if the side but I did not as there was hardly enough in it to call it a curry burger. When I ordered the ahi tuna wonton was confused on how they couldn't just make a bigger version of that into the nachos we wanted, just to take the first bite and it be soggy. I tried my friends south Carolina fireballs and his burger. The fireballs where a mess that is still trying to figure itself out. Flavors fighting to be the overpowering one instead of working with each other. My friend said he had no qualms with his order but he was hungry and inhaled it in mer minutes anyway so who's to say. Over all not worth the price.

I wish I could go with a 3 1/2 stars for my review. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this restaurant, but there was nothing great about it either. I went with their nachos, which they claim are "touted by locals as the best on the island." Obviously, the competition must be limited, because the nachos were inoffensive but not very interesting. I ended up eating half of my son's pasta with red sauce, which was somehow more tasty. My fiance liked his fish and chips, and described the fish as better than anything he'd eat when he wasn't on the coast (aka, back home in Ohio). We sat outside in the covered eating section during the rain, which was a pretty nice experience (except when it got super windy). I did go inside to use the restroom and was glad we opted for the outdoor seating, since the indoor seating area was more dimly lit and had a bit of a bar vibe. Live music was nice, although we only heard a bit of it. I probably wouldn't seek out this restaurant again if we're back in Hilton Head, but I also wouldn't actively avoid it, either.

I really wish I could give it more stars but after spending 3 nights in Hilton Head and making this the go to evening drinking hole in the wall and I am honestly disappointed. The first two nights were what you'd expect for a bar but the last night which was a Saturday was the worst.

Apparently they have a no glass container policy on the porch outside. However no sign posted just a stack of cups sitting next to the door. First time we go outside with a bottle the very rude employee says "hey no glass bottles, you need a plastic cup". So of course I'm like well do you have one he's like "naw bruh they next to the door inside". Alright cool so I go and get one.

A different group comes out and he starts to get an attitude with them about the glass and needing a plastic cup.

The other group goes in for another round and the bar of course serves it in a glass bottle but they have cups on the table and Mr doorman gets a bigger attitude saying he's not baby sitting and he's said it three times no glass. All this well he would rather have a conversation probably with his baby momma on the phone instead of paying attention and doing his job.

Well Mr. Doorman and management you A) should have the sign posted saying no glass B) Have your bar staff automatically put the ice cold beverages in a plastic cup C) make your doorman do a better job by handing out the cups and not be rude about it and throw a temper tantrum just like the "children" he is allegedly "baby sitting".

When I come back to HHI it's probably going to be hard for me to want...

Last night mine and my fiances expreince at the Big Bamboo for dinner was very dissapointing. We decided to sit outside and were sat promptly. the hostest said a server will be right with you and walked away. (Keep in mind there are only about 4 other tables outside at the time) Then we sat...and waited...and waited. About 20 min went by and still no service or aknowlegment. With both my fiance and I working in resturants for about 10 years we understand things happen. But what ruined it was the fact that the hostess that sat us (and assured a server will be right with us) and 2 bussers stood 5 feet away from us talking and joking around. Even if they are not our server they could have atleast got our drink orders or apoligized for the wait...anything...its called customer service. Instead of just leaving we decided to go to the bar and get a drink. I will say that the bar tenders were amazing. Very hard working and gave great service. The drinks were wonderful as well. This is why I am giving 3 stars and not 1. It was just very dissapointing that we could not have a nice dinner there like we had planned. From some other reviews i have read service for the dining room has been and issue. As an owner i would think after seeing so many issues with service something would be...
