If you want a God-honest review, here it is. This was my second time trying Blue Eyes—and probably my last. Don’t let the waterfront view fool you. The service was colder than the pizza.
My girlfriend and I walked in around 8 PM and were seated outside at a small 2-top. No big deal—nice view, decent weather. We sat for about 10–15 minutes before our server (an older gentleman) came by and asked if we wanted sparkling or regular water. We said sparkling. Then another guy came over a few minutes later, ready to pour us regular water. I had to stop him and clarify. Again—not the end of the world, but also not a great start.
Twenty minutes later, our server came back to take our order. Mind you, the place wasn’t slammed. Maybe 10 tables max. There were at least 2 waiters and 4 busboys. No excuse for that kind of delay.
While we were still waiting for drinks, we noticed two tables that got sat after us—one couple and a group of three—already had their drinks and were ordering food. We hadn’t even gotten to that point yet.
I ordered the Frittura (fried calamari, shrimp, and zucchini) and the Pizza Pala. The waiter said he had to check if they could make that pizza. Cool, no problem. Then my girlfriend pointed out that he repeated my order as “Burrata” instead of Frittura. When he came back, he said they couldn’t make the Pizza Pala, so we switched to a Margherita and a Diavola pizza. I clarified the Frittura again, and he confirmed.
Drinks came out separately about 10 minutes later. Five minutes after that, a food runner showed up—with the Burrata appetizer. Wrong again. I stopped him before he sprinted off, told him we didn’t order it. He quietly took it back. Another 20 minutes go by before the right appetizer came out. It tasted good, but it was lukewarm. Not exactly how fried seafood should be.
Then came the wait for the pizza… and wow. It took 30–40 minutes, and when it finally landed on our table—it was cold. Not warm. Not slightly cooled. Straight-up cold. Like it sat on the counter while they played musical chairs with the order slips.
For reference, I’ve worked in over 10 restaurants, 5 of them pizzerias. Brick oven pizza takes 90 seconds to cook. And yet here we were, an hour and a half in, finally getting two cold pies.
By the time we were done eating, we were done completely. We didn’t even think about dessert. I asked the waiter for the check—and instead, he dropped dessert menus and ran. I had to ask again 10 minutes later when he finally came back.
The bill was about $98 before tip. Honestly, not terrible given what we ordered. But if I’m paying $26 for a pizza, I expect it to be hot, and I expect the service to be faster than a snail on vacation.
Meanwhile, the tables that came after us were on dessert and coffee while we were still waiting on our main course. It’s not like the place was in overdrive—this was just sloppy, inattentive service.
I’m not writing this for a discount or a “please come back” gesture. This is actually my first Google review ever, and it’s because I walked out genuinely disappointed.
Blue Eyes might have a great view, but that’s about where the experience ends. Unless they start serving the food with the same energy they serve the view, it’s a hard...
Read moreSo many things went wrong today. We were out celebrating my dads birthday. Came from NY. I came with two of my children with an ups baby vista stroller. This one male waiter told me no strollers. N that I had to leave it outside the restaurant. I had a few things in there and did not feel save leaving it out side. The waiter was not very apologetic about it. Said to me with an attitude no strollers as I proceeded to explain how inconvenient it is for me to do so with a 2 and a 3 year old baby. I decided to go back to the car to leave it there.
When I came back that same waiter accepted us. I asked for a window seat. It was 4 adults n 2 kids. He said that everything is occupied and that we should have a table by the wall that was two table put together. I didn’t agree so still asked to be seated by the window where we would not fit comfortably at all. Then another female waiter that was very sweet came up and expressed that she wants us to be comfortable n to pic another table. I asked if i can look what’s in the back and she said sure. In the back was a whole section of plenty of tables. All by the window n more then enough space to fit us all.
I then asked for the manager because I felt that this male waiter was rude to us about approaching and explaining the whole stroller situation. And then was not accommodating and unfriendly about seating us. The female waiter replied that there was no manager on site at the moment. 😔 that’s the third negative. I told the lady what happened and she said she was very sorry for how the other waiter treated us and will make is up. But nothing was extra and “make it up”.
A different male server was with us. He was nice. But that was it.
And to top all these issues off. They let a guy in with a stroller as we were eating. I brought it up and the female waiter said because it was smaller. But excuse me if you have a no stroller policy then you should not be making acceptions to any stealers at all. Also when we were heading back to the car and passed by the restaurant again, I saw another stroller inside, that was the exact same one that I had. Another uppa baby vista. So I get quite discriminated as a mom. And as is I was picked on for no reason. What kind of a restaurant has a no stroller rule but yet desires which ones they will allow in or not. I’m quite furious and sad at...
Read moreIt was out first visit in this restaurant. I was looking forward to come and eat here since we move here in Hoboken. We tried so many times to come in but everytime we cone its always pack. This time 9/17/21 we finally get to chance to come and eat here since they have no customer and only have 1 table only when we got here. When we got sat down, they asked as for drinks, and asked for Still water, we noticed that the glass was dirty and asked for a new one, the server Jonathan changed up his moos after we asked for that. My boyfriend and i both worked in NYC as Restaurant Manager. After we got out drinks. It took 10minutes for him to come back and said sorry i forgot about you and he will be coming for the complimentary bread. They brought the bread and took out order. I was excited about it and just gave the server a chance. We order Pulpo(octopus) and baked clam. Theyre both great! But when our entree meal came in. Noone even clean up our table yet befor dropping off our entree. We sit in a 2top table. We have to lift our own plates so the busser can put our next meal in our table. After that, noone even check on is, our server Jonathan fidnt even check if hows our food. Working in a restaurant, i know that there’s a 2 bite rule, once a customer took there 2 bites a server should be checking up on the table and make sure the food went well. We just both hope that the food come up good even if our server wasnt that attentivd to us at all.Jonathan never did check on us. Our food was actually not tasteful. The cheese from the chicken parm was old, cause we can taste and see how it look also. My salmon wasnt that great also. We just tried to eat because we didnt want to waste the food, in my end i didnt really ate much because my salmon wasnt that really great for $26 plate. After we ate we were waiting for our server to come and just get the check we waited too long that i have to go inside the restaurant to asked for our check. This is a bad experience. I hope you cAn do something about this issue. This will be our last dine in to this restaurant. We were going to bring our family on Sunday to this restaurant but i had to call another restaurant in the area to make reservation because of this experience. Our bill came to $89 already that we didnt even enjoyed neither service and half of the meal.
Thank you...
