I usually don’t write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience from tonight. I went to this bar with a group of friends, hoping to have a good time. Unfortunately, our experience was spoiled by the bartender, Nicole, who was incredibly rude and unprofessional.
First, she completely ignored us when we tried to place an order, forcing us to go up to her instead of her coming to us like any decent service. She was busy chatting with other customers, but didn’t even take their orders, which felt pretty off-putting.
Then, we paid to play pool, but as soon as it was near closing time, she came over and abruptly stopped us from playing. While I understand the need to close, she didn’t kick out the other customers, which made it feel unfair and inconsiderate.
What made it worse was when I left my food (from another place) on the side, and she actually threw it outside without any warning or explanation. That was extremely disrespectful.
Finally, when we were still playing pool, she came over, picked up the balls mid-game, and demanded we leave. We were having a good time, didn’t cause any trouble, and were respectful the whole time. It was just a really disappointing experience, and I’m shocked at how rude Nicole was. I hope management addresses this behavior because it really ruined what could’ve been a fun night. It was the WORST...
Read morePlace is going downhill. Owner raised the price of the pool table to $2 and does not make regulars feel welcome. I'm literally on his bar's pool team and have been chased off the table the last four times I've been here. Was playing pool and nearly booted from the back table so the owner could let random guys play darts...free darts. Mind you, I've been a regular for six years and the owner doesn't even recognize me or my group.
If you're trying to play pool, you'd be better off getting to The Shannon or Play! Hoboken - the owners are actually trying to cultivate a good pool atmosphere. LJs is just that dive bar you jump into to get an overpriced drink on your way to a fun bar.
Final note - he removed all rap from the jukebox. He's that kind of...
Read moreFor as long as I've known, the bartenders at LJs are always a gem. I moved to CA but came back for a visit recently for a little Hoboken in my life! I'm not sure what's going on with management but I was literally yelled at by who I later learned was the manager ... for simply asking if the juke box was on. Others seemed visibly uncomfortable by her as well, I truly can't believe a person like this would be hired, clearly an unstable kid. Really hoping they get some better personnel in there because it's always been such...
