I would give 0 stars if I could because...I was never serviced. I called ahead on Wednesday, August 14 to make an appointment for 8AM on Friday August 16. The first red flag should've been that the salon is listed to open at 8AM on Fridays, but I was told I'd have to pay a $35 early bird fee on top of the cost of a blowout. Fine, no problem. The woman took down my information and told me she'd confirm with her stylist and let me know. She called back a few hours later to confirm my 8AM appt. On Friday I show up at 8AM and there is one woman servicing her client who assures me that my stylist is just parking. 5, 10, then 15 minutes go by and she assures me that the stylist is just parking. finally at around 8:20 she lets me know that no one is answering her messages (in what i assume is a group chat) and that she was surprised I had an appointment at all because usually no one comes in early. She then proceeds to tell me that no one is coming and that she has to leave after her client. At this point its 8:30 so I've waited THIRTY MINUTES for a stylist that never showed up and am being sent home with zero explanation. The woman there let me know that the manager would call me to rectify the situation. I'm now writing this on Sunday, August 25 after calling Up & Out and getting no response. No one has reached out to me or responded to my outreach. I was literally STOOD UP by a stylist the day before my engagement party. Ultimately I wasn't even charged because no one showed up, but I don't think that validates the fact that the service was never provided on a very special day and on top of that, no one ever responded to me or reached out to me. A month ago I scheduled an appointment for 10:00am on Friday, November 24th at the downtown location which was then moved to a new time and location two days before (11:15am at the uptown location which is inconvient for me as I live on 1st street and it was my wedding weekend).
Unfortunately, upon my arrival at the new time (I arrived to the uptown location at 11:10am), I discovered that the store was actually closed (!!!!!!!!) so I called the downtown location twice for them to tell me my hair dresser was going to be 20 minutes late. Total panic. This was unexpected and not only inconvenienced me but also resulted in me being late for my wedding venue rehearsal. When I made the apppintment I noted it was for my wedding rehearsal and when it was rescheduled, I reminded the time of my timeline too. At this point, I didn’t even have time to go home and do my hair myself.
I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, but such a significant disruption like that left me feeling quite frustrated and stressed, especially considering the importance of the occasion. And no one seemed to care at all!!! It’s odd to me that I was charged full price for the service that was rescheduled and then started extremely late. Read moreI had a signed contract and paid a deposit for 2 hair services for my mother-in-law and her friend who came all the way from Italy FOR MY WEDDING DAY — signed and paid deposit in February. They arrived to the salon and NO ONE HAD ANY CLUE that they were supposed to be there, no one stopped working on clients to take them (ON MY WEDDING DAY). Were repeatedly told they had “no idea” and when shown the contract did nothing at all adequate to service them and didn’t even offer to service them for free at that point — basically said “they’d get to them when they could and just give us half off” ON MY WEDDING DAY. The worst of it is that I received no phone call or email response from the salon and I still have not been returned the $150 deposit nor offered to comp the two Ubers my mother-in-law had to take to the salon and back. The hairdresser (not theirs) and makeup artist doing my hair at our hotel were both SHOCKED and told me how unprofessional this was — SO luckily for us, my hairdresser offered to take them on in addition and for an additional cost. Because of this salon, my mother-in-law would have not had her hair done for her only son’s wedding otherwise. DO NOT USE THEM FOR AN EVENT OR WEDDING.
